Yeah I'd seen comments about this before I played and it turns out they were right.

I was gonna post this as well but then I didn't wanna say anything though because I thought maybe I only noticed it because I'd been primed to notice lol and others will enjoy it more if they don't notice haha. And it actually is a surprisingly big issue because it just totally kills the vibe whenever she's around - like it's really bad and she's a pretty iconic character!

also i spent 3 gold coins on a charm and got a common. ;-; to add insult to injury, it was for extra bolt ammo. i've still never even bought that gun...

Finished the game. Glad I played on Hardcore, was satisfying af and not too ridiculous of a challenge. Probably not gonna attempt professional mode because I've got too many other games I want to play.

But like...it's borderline "needs to be patched out".

I don't know if there's even any precedence for something like that. I mean, it happened in an anime once that I can recall, but that was the entire cast being replaced because of how bad it was.

Yeah Ada's voice is just...off. Although I do think part of it is that it's just so different from what I expect Ada to sound like.

I really like the bolt thing. With limited knife usage, the bolts are like the only way to kill stuff without using any resource at all because you can just grab them off the corpse.

I finished the first combat section of the Island and I have exactly 2 handgun ammo and a dream. Saw four barrels and all of them had money inside.

Having to fight stun rod ganados with your knife is suffering.

I used the bolt thrower for a while, but I found that I wound up taking damage in encounters that I probably wouldn't have if I had just used any other gun. So not sure if it was worth trading a few bullets for a green herb.

Loading it with mines is cool though.

Its definitely only for specific situations, not when youre getting swarmed or something but if theres just a single dude you can pick off, its nice.
Ive only just gotten through the first castle chapter, so it might totally lose its usefulness at some point, but it was nice to have in the village.

also was nice for shooting some landbound crows on the first time through the el gigante arena

I used the mine arrows for the giant wolf mini boss then stashed it the rest of the game

yeah i'm curious to try the bolt thrower on another playthrough, but for now it didn't seem worth spending money on if i wasn't sure i was gonna use it, and i figured sticking to a more basic arsenal would work fine anyway.

i feel this game has a lot more swarms anyway, less opportunity to stealthily take things out.

Should finish 1st playthrough this morning after I get off work and then the road to the platinum begins with the many playthroughs required after that

Damn this is a good tip. I was just blasting through them to save the main knife.

Also i found a random beetle by accident in the lakeside area and it turns out to be a rare item. Basically acts like a yellow herb but can also sell for 10k or 20k if you have the beetle charm that doubles healing resell value.

i remember doing something similar in the original, and thank god i can because i'd be rubbish if i had to do this fight fairly

on the plus side, my ammo/resources situation picked up significantly. everything from cabin up until, uh, basically water hall into the new castle chapter was just barely staying afloat, but things calmed down a bit after that thankfully.

omg lmao in the room right after salazar the basement on the way to the boat - i was messing around trying to stab the rat (i know there's probably no third rat sidequest but i kill them all anyway just for fun) and the armor just randomly stabs me out of nowhere from behind. i did not expect there to be any more enemies in the castle! and they usually won't run up to you while you're in an otherwise empty room, with no music change or anything! edit: oh i see, i guess its around a tiny corner. which i backed into while trying to stab rat lol.

oh but another question then 'cause i'm curious, do you guys kill all the living armors to get the 1x spinel they drop? or just avoid them?

i can't really tell if it's worth it. it's like 3 rifle ammo to kill one so 3 rifle ammo = 1 spinel?

I haven't beaten the game so it's hard to tell how many spinels you get through the game, but the trade items are generally worth it to get as many spinels as you can, so I do.

Im wondering if the laser sight is worth getting. But the Punisher seems totally uninteresting.

I got, I think the laser scope and the red9 stock. Didn't get the punisher or any of the gear for weapons I'm not using. Beyond that and the exclusive ticket the rest is mostly just treasures or a bit of gunpowder, so not necessarily worth giving up ammo for.

To be fair you're not really giving up ammo in this game as they always give it you back in boxes anyway.

hm yeah i guess so but i also don't plan on spending any spinels on the random treasures until i get the second exclusive ticket, 'cause i figured i wanna get that as soon as i'm able to (because another 1.5x power upgrade somewhere will also save ammo)

but you're right, i didn't really think that spinel = upgrades. by now i have all guns at lv4 or 5 power level anyway though.

and yeah i've kind of been wondering about the adaptive difficulty thing and if the game gives you more ammo if you're low on it and i think it might.

Kinda salty I bought 2 treasure maps before realizing my deluxe edition stuff hadn't installed yet, and finding out there was a full game treasure map in there.

Yeah i caught all the fish also. Helped that i won the beetle charm though so i could get double the money for everything.

I've also noticed something interesting. If you cheese enemies they never drop money or an item. What i mean by cheese is if you use the boat spears near a dock to kill enemies or just outside the church i ran round the back and just shot at the dog while it stood idle waiting for me.

i've been noticing sometimes that when i kill an enemy that is behind a fence, it won't drop an item. not sure if bug or intended. kind of unfair i feel to punish me for being tactical?

it's fine if they're just idling far away - it's only if they're behind some sort of barrier that i can't currently cross that it withholds reward. even if it's a gate with a nearby switch.

I've got 2 chapters left. Island feels far less drawn out that original, it was always my least favorite part of the game and there's some stuff not here that I don't miss.

I've been playing a lot of very long games recently so it feels really wierd that I'm almost done! Time flies when you're having fun.

Unless something goes off here at the end, I think I'm going to end up liking Village Section more than the original, Castle less, and Island about the same. So...a wash, which is about as good as I could ask for.

I just realized that red rectangles and red circles both count as the same color for even better multipliers on treasure with both shapes FML.

Gotta save all my reds for crowns next time.

as an actual crazy person, Ive barely sold any of my socket treasures so far out of fear that I wont have enough gems of the right colors to optimally fill in the finest treasures later on

ive just gotten to the bug zone and its great how many sapphires these dudes drop, allowing me to freely socket some treasure without worry

So I lost at a part (I think twice but maybe just once) and the chainsaw guy disappeared? I want that gem he drops! This is a thing though? I was worried I mashed A after a death and lowered the difficulty by accident!

Also I hate that this game keeps your time going with the game paused (like it is right now for me). Even going to the Xbox home screen it keeps counting lol. At least the chapter times don't count this. I'm mostly just curious about my time because I play games (especially ones like this that have collectibles and secrets everywhere) very slowly, and I want to compare it to others.

Previous REmakes counted time in the case and stuff, which is fine minus reading files counting time too, but not on the pause screen.

oops didn't finish like I thought still have the final chapter to go when I get home tomorrow morning.

Also I think I barely ever move while shooting and forget it's a thing. I mean you move so slowly it almost might as well not be. Certainly designed very much around aiming while shooting and not really moving like the original.

Same for me. You move really slowly and lose a ton of precision. It was a more viable strategy in RE2 when an individual zombie might shuffle toward you somewhat slowly, but here, it seems pointless.

just did the first room of the island without ever triggering the alarm. you can headshot all the enemies before they trigger the alarm and then just avoid the spotlights. pig doesn't even spawn, he's not even behind the door or anything lol

I'm actually going to say I'm pretty surprised by just how much was cut in the second half of this game. Entire bosses and set pieces gone without replacements. Hmmm....

But if I'm being honest, a lot of them were parts that I would consider weaker encounters.

This is one of my favorite additions to the game! He was just a researcher for Saddler before, but now they not only made him former Umbrella, but part of Lab 6. Since OG RE3, Lab 6 has been the part of Umbrella Europe responsible for the Nemesis Project.

Which makes so much sense if his entire background was in parasitic research, Umbrella collapses and he becomes an international fugitive, so then he just raids his lab and heads to probably the only other place in the entire world that would not only welcome him, but value his knowledge. Then everything just keeps getting worse for him.

Such a minor change with huge ramifications. Luis out here being sneakily responsible for 85% of the problems in the RE Universe.

Leon by himself left his one fuck to give back in the police car. He straight up mercs Salazaar and Saddler (in the eye!) both instead of bantering with them. Which again, makes sense since both Marvin and Krauser taught him "no hesitation." But with Ashley you can see his more human side come out, and the two play off of each other extremely well because of it.
