(I bought the Game Gear versions of Sonic 1 and 2 earlier, so its not like Im entirely Sonic-less. Not to mention Sonic Origins Plus will have all 12 Game Gear titles in one package.)

Even with all of my 11th hour purchases, I still ended up with a comfortable cushion left on my 32GB SD card. True I skipped out on some stuff I wanted but I knew I just wasn't gonna get it all and left some stuff in the graveyard. Now that it's officially over, the weight of FOMO is lifted off my shoulders.

I'm assuming you have a Switch since you've been able to add these funds? You can still use it on Switch.

I have kept my 3DS and Switch funds separate this entire time. I had added money roughly a year ago that I didnt spend until today.

Got most of what I wanted but mouse dying at the last hour, plus some problems with my credit card which perhaps was not used to Nintendo made me miss the tail end of my list. Oh well, they do have PC versions, but Cave Story on the 3DS did look nice.

Ended up upgrading Ogre Battle 64 from Wii to Wii U a half hour ago. Looked through my Wii games and didnt feel like upgrading the others. Guess thats my last purchase.

You can still play Pokemon Shuffle but can't buy anything in it.

I'm surprised this game is still running!

Nintendo Network hasnt shut down yet, but when it does, itll be just as huge of a blow as the eShop shutdown. For starters, Im pretty sure Pokmon Bank wouldnt work anymore.

That link didn't work, but it did motivate me to look into it and I did end up merging and adding funds, which gave me a needed second wind, thanks.

I was really surprised to discover I never bought Boxboxboy or Crashmo. Clearly Ibe never played them, but if youd asked me yesterday if I had played them I would probably have said yeah, for sure. just seems like stuff I would have bought since I liked the first ones

that period of 3DS free to start games was so weird

after downloading Stretchmo, I had to play through the first like six levels to get to the point where a little robot gently tried to sell me the full game

Welp, I bought so many Goddamn games I figured I may as well get cracking. Starting with Pushmo. Oh my God, how did I skip this series all these years? It's so much fun, so addicting, and so simple yet I can see the puzzles having the potential to get so complex. I smile every time I solve a level. Such a cute little thing. And it's first party Nintendo and from what I understand, decently popular, so now that it's currently unavailable, I could definitely see them repackaging these as a bundle for Switch.

Pushmo/Crashmo/Stretchmo are some great games. I wasn't quite as big on the 2nd one, which I think is Crashmo. But yeah, they can get pretty complicated in the endgame.

Seems like for a hot minute we had drama over Pokemon Bank and Transporter needing an active subscription to work.

Seems like the issue has been fixed but it would have been the most GF outrage.

Was probably something like, whoever was supposed to switch it over to free at the time of the closure was on the shitter.

By the way, there are currently two free themes available from the theme shop, and what's interesting is that they were apparently paid themes prior to the shutdown so it seems to be deliberate.

From what I understand, as long as you check in once before the servers go down (which is in a few days, I think) and then don't change the system clock the game will continue to cycle through the special events offline without having to check in again since it already downloaded the event schedule.

It's too late to get the bonus Pikachus for checking in at this point, and you also can't get all the mega evolution stones including some useful ones because they were a bonus prize in the online competition stages. But you can still do pretty much everything else and still get a lot of resources without having to pay, you just have to go at a bit slower pace or grind stage 37 (or UX 37) a ridiculous number of times each week and be a bit more careful about what you upgrade.

The only really efficient use of crystals is to unlock more tries at the weekend meowth stage (since on average you can get about 4000-5000 coins per attempt once you get shiny Mewtwo X and 3 Quirky ++ pokemon, instead of spending all week grinding stage 37 for 300 coins per heart), or using one at the start of a tough stage to buy all 6 booster items (since the combined price would be about the same number of coins that you would get using a crystal to play the weekend Meowth four times) So you can save the crystals that you get during regular game play for extreme emergencies, and just get by on the coins you get each week in the one free weekend Meowth attempt or by grinding stage 37 for 300 coins per heart.

(I could probably post more advice if someone wants it, but in the past I remember seeing a few b8 users who maxed out the system's play time counter playing Pokemon Shuffle lol)

You can still play it offline since the game doesn't force an online connection, which I believe the mobile version does.

It's just that at the end of the month, they're cutting out the online Check-in functionality, which you need to do to restore the special stages if you ever change your 3DS system clock.

So if you do time-traveling in any game or you're someone that changes the clock for Daylight Savings, you'll be locked out from ever seeing the special stages again. All regular stages will still be there, so the is playable

They didn't even bother to put out an in-game announcement for that, news of it came from the official Japanese Pokemon web site.

Excellent. I KINDA thought maybe they might do something like that but I wasn't exactly holding my breath. Because I ended up acquiring a few download codes for cross-platform content while I was doing my last-minute shopping and was like, "Well, this is pointless."

Man did a deep dive to find all my stuff to try and see what I could make work with these transfers.
I completely forgot I had a legit copy of Devil Survivor and not a rom on the DSi.

so far it seems everything is workable, I've got a 3DS and DSi to shift Pokemon from SS/Pearl/Diamond over to White/Black2 and checking my B2 it's very empty, I assume I already moved a lot over to X.
So I'll just need to now bring forward the X, Moon/Ultra Moon stuff over to Home and then it's a matter of how many are in Home jail, how many go over over to Shield and what can go over to SV.

The main problem being I still cannot find a copy of Emerald or a DS Lite.

Even worse, finding charging cables, DS lite and DSi are different chargers.

Okay for a minute I didn't know what the issue was. Then I realized that you can still get the game but you could've gotten the DLC yesterday but now you can't.

Fuck that sucks dude. At least you can get the game but I guess Nintendo can't fix everything. It's shocking to me how badly they bungled the shutdown of their own digital storefront.

I didn't see the point in getting the DLC if the game code was lost forever, ya know?

I mean, if you want the novelty of bringing Pokemon all the way from GBA to Switch (which I also love), then yeah that sucks. But if it's just a matter of having everything, they've done such a damn good job of maintaining the availability of every Pokemon at this point, I have to wonder, is there any Pokemon anymore that still HAS to be transferred from Gen V or prior, or is everything available to some capacity in 6 through 9?

Thank you! I was able to redeem the code. I had called Nintendo yesterday to reverse the point transaction, but they never sent me the email they promised saying they voided the code and refunded my points (and they're still gone). They said within 24 hours, 25 hours ago. So who knows. Anyway, it downloaded and I'm happy.

I guess they had something planned all along in case the eShop ever closed.

None.

Hell almost anything is available on just the Switch. It's missing only the lines of Snivy, Tepig, Patrat, Pansage, Pansear, Panpour, Blitzle, Sewaddle, Ducklett, Furfrou, Pikipek, and Minior, all of which are available in the 3DS games. Also according to leaks of SV DLC this list reduces to starters, monkeys, Patrat and Furfrou later this year.

Anyway all this time on my 3DS made me update and check in on Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Man, I really loved that game and playing it with people on here. One of my villagers said it had been 9 years since I'd seen them. Holy crap. Amazingly someone from my friend list was actually playing at the same time. Is there still a player base for that one?

Im continuing Radiant Historia and Im kinda regretting not biting on the DLC oh well

Radiant Historia is one of my favorite games, enough that I bought the remake on 3DS after completing the DS game. I bought none of the DLC when I did my playthrough. I looked into the DLC before shut down and decided it wasn't really worth it (except the free difficulty mode, I guess), if it makes you feel better. Mostly some really short story things that don't really add to the main plot, or so I read.

I ended up buying all the GB/GBC Pokemon games I didn't have lol. Close to no chance I end up playing them all.

As speculated, DLC that bypasses Nintendo's eShop and goes directly to a developer's store, such as Layton vs. Phoenix, is still available.

Eh, I ended up panic-buying it lol. I looked into it and was KINDA on the cusp but two two recommendations, plus the lovely look of it, plus being made by Level 5 made me go... NRRGH I guess.

you do realise it wasn't made by level 5 right they just published it in their Guild series. it's pretty much a boku no natsuyasumi game (it's also good for this reason though)

Don't forget to check your cases and even your emails for codes! I found an insert for two free themes in the case for Mega Man Legacy Collection for 3DS, and two more in an email for purchasing Pokemon Silver on the eShop. Both said they were all expired, but they all worked, except for the one Pokemon GSC theme I already had. Speaking of which:

I know this topic was brought up a while ago, but a couple other 3DS titles I could potentially see being ported to Switch are Detective Pikachu (since the sequel is supposedly still coming out even though we haven't heard heads or tails of it in years) and the Pushmo trilogy (probably packaged together).
