Is there any reason to play the 3DS version of Resident Evil Revelations if I already played the PC version? (besides portability and 3D effect)

Never played the Etrian Odyssey series. And looking at videoes, doesn't look like it's my taste either
But wow, before the Nintendo Direct last month, it seemed like the entire series would have been gone? Almost all of the games in the series are 3DS exclusive

1, 2 and 3 are now coming to PC and Switch
4, 5, Nexus, the two Untold games and Mystery Dungeon are still 3DS exclusive

I really hate how GameFAQs combine games
I was always in favor of this as I believed this would be a great way to make boards more active (why split a multiplatform game into 10 different boards if the game is the same?)
But the way they did it is so half assed

Why does it show the Superstar Saga remake together with the GBA version
Yet it doesn't show Monster Hunter Generations together with Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate?

Anyway, added to Favorites every game I don't own that it's name rang a bell or it had high metacritic score + guides + reviews (so it's somewhat popular)
And got a list of...373 games

Finished browsing through the list, actual number turned to be 343 (had some duplicates and stuff)
Out of which, 118 are not 3DS exclusive and available on either PC, Switch or emultable old console
14 games are Japan only, 65 are either garbage shitty games or not my taste at all, and 3 more are just games I own but need to check if DLC is worth it

So that leaves my current list of "Interested in" to be....143 games

Probably not an exhaustive list, but should cover a majority of the notable ones.

Citra is much much better than the last time I tried it a few years ago, it improved a lot
However the compability list they have is pretty bad and not really up to date
Games that it says they should work do not work, and games that are not supposed to work does work
Kirby Battle Royal is supposed to run near-perfect, but I encountered a black screen freeze 10 minutes into the game and I can't proceed
Bravely Second End Layer is also supposed to work great, with only "slowdowns" when opening a menu - but I encountered a freeze instead
Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX is not playable past the title screen at all but the websites lists it as playable from start to finish
Monster Hunter Stories is exteremly slow (website states this as well)

Unpopular opinion - Ranger is the best Pokemon spin off series
But they are DS games, not 3DS, how did you plan on getting them..?

Atlus titles being spread across a bunch of publishers in Europe is turning out to be a bit of a pain.

I didn't know about points and the only themes they've got left are lame ones!

I still had some money and I bought Lapras Ride with it, but I don't know which one to buy with the last money I have. I'm not huge on Eevee, but the Eevee Collection is really cute. Yoshi Springtime Siesta is also great, but I'm also thinking of getting Team Magma because it would fit well with my red and black 3DS. Dilemma's...

There have been a fair few sales going up. Capcom heavily discounted a bunch of their games to record lows, several indie developers and publishers have done the same. If you're in Europe, a bunch of Atlus games just went on offer today, hopefully it means the US shop will follow suit.

How's Culdcept Revolt though?

Ended up buying 3 things and I think I'm good. Got AA Trilogy for $3, got Pockey Card Jockey, and NES remix 2.

Everything is downloaded I think so the only thing left is to check pokemon bank after the eshop shuts down to see what happens there

Culdcept is basically monopoly + a CCG.

You go around the board claiming property by playing a monster card to guard it, then invest your points into developing it to make it more valuable. If you land on a property, you can either pay the toll or play a monster card to try to defeat the one guarding it and claim it as your own if you manage to win.

There's also a sort of a "stock market" system, where you can buy element gems which go up in value as properties of the same element are enhanced so you might be able to sell them at a profit later. Though this mechanic isn't really used in story mode until the second postgame storyline.

There is a ton of single player content in just story mode, and you can also set up free matches too. Especially considering how dirt cheap it is now.

Most of the paid DLC is cosmetic. The exceptions are Challenge From Hell, which is kind of an endurance match with a higher point goal that might be useful to set up for trying to get some of the in game achievements, and the free time one where it has a few more matches with some characters (although there's a lot of matches with them in story mode anyway).

I think there's some free boards to download too, so you might want to connect online at least once sooner than later to make sure you get them.

Theres a version of Pocket Card Jockey on Apple Arcade. I was just playing it now! Lot of shit going on in that game!

How does it compare to the other Culdcept games?

it's probably a little easier to get into in terms of matches being a bit shorter, since the point goals to win tend to be a bit lower, and you don't have to do a complete lap after reaching the point goal to win (just get to the next checkpoint). Also you get new cards by buying booster packs with in game gold you get after matches or daily bonuses for connecting online (and if you're looking for certain cards you can buy booster packs targeting a specific element, or is guaranteed to have a certain amount of uncommon/rare cards in it). This is a lot better than in older games, where you only get a handful of cards after each match so you have to play tons of matches to get cards through grinding.

Though, like I said Revolt introduces the gem stock market mechanic a lot later in story mode since it doesn't show up until postgame content.

Well, I've probably played Revolt more than Culdcept 1 or 2 (the DS game that was translated is a port of the first game, and the PS2 game is the second in the series), and haven't played the third game Saga at all.

(also. The Xbone and Xbox SeX/S aren't backwards compatible with Culdcept Saga, and the translation patch for the DS game doesn't translate the text for card descriptions and status effects so it's kind of a bad place to start if you aren't already somewhat familiar with the game flow or willing to have the fan site open in a browser window to look up cards. so Revolt's probably the most reasonable place to start by default.)

The annoying part about 3DS DLC is that you can only buy them within the game itself. And while some games are good about it like Fantasy Life where you can go straight to the shop upon booting up the game, others you have to make some progress in the game before you're able to access the shop like the Fire Emblem DLCs.

The N64 games on Wii U Virtual Console that aren't released or confirmed for NSO are Bomberman 64, Donkey Kong 64, Harvest Moon 64, and Ogre Battle 64. It's been said that Harvest Moon almost certainly isn't coming and if you REALLY want the others I'd say don't think of them as guarantees either.

At first I was kinda annoyed at it because I didn't plan on playing it now and I didn't want to start and ruin my future playthroughs with spoiling myself
But then I thought about it...how long would it take to get there, skipping all text and cutscenes and playing on the easiest difficulty? probably less than an hour

The plot isn't really any worse than the rest of Fates. People almost universally think the maps and general game balance are way worse though. I know FOMO is hell but I can only recommend Revelation if you really really like Fates already.

I did this and it took me 2 hours, not skipping text or anything. I think I could buy the story paths before chapter 6, with the NA version, but might be different for other regions. The non-story path DLC is only available with 6. I just picked up the one or two free ones.

Was kinda waffling back and forth on whether I wanted to by Revelation or not, but decided to get it, since an entire story path is a good value for money, and it's not available otherwise (for less than hundreds of dollars). Jury's out on whether I play it much though. I think that's the only DLC for any 3DS/Wii U game I've proactively gotten "just in case".

Though on paper aren't we more likely to see these FE games get a second life in the future as either remasters sold at full price, or through Nintendo Switch Online's next service's next big update.

Well at least better chance on Nintendo stuff than uh Stella Glow or Lord of Magna.

as far as virtual console stuff goes, I might as well mention some of the stuff that has changes to them or are otherwise notable:

3ds
Summer Carnival 92: Recca - it's basically a tech demo that was made for a game show, so it never got a wide release. It was fairly influential to the shmup genre and worth checking out if you're a fan.
Pokemon Crystal - I believe they modified the game so that you're able to get Celebi.

Wii U
Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario 3 - modified to include all the e-reader levels (although it's on the NSO app now)
Mega Man Battle Network series - modified so that you don't have to link to another cartridge for certain completion stars (though there's probably not much point in getting these releases over the upcoming legacy collection)
Animal Crossing Wild World - modified so you don't have to trade or use wifi or w/e to unlock certain things (although there's probably not much point in playing this particular version over other ones)
Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon - modified so that the wifi shop is available without wifi

The Wii U also has some Turbografx 16 games, which can be easy to overlook since there isn't a separate category for them on the eshop home page. a brief overview of some titles since it's a system fewer people are familiar with

Alien Crush, Devil's Crush - fun pinball games (if you had to choose between them, I'd say go with Devil's Crush)
New Adventure Island - it's a lot more accessible than the NES games (AI1 is a pretty good candidate for the hardest NES game after all), but it's a gameplay style that not many people would be into since it's a precision game with a lot of memorization/trial and error involved
Bonk series - failry standard platformer with some goofiness
Air Zonk - Bonk themed cute em up style shmup
Bomberman series - pretty standard Bomberman titles that don't reinvent the wheel (94 is probably a little better than 93 though)
Panic Bomber - Bomberman themed puzzle game, but I think it's bad
Battle Lode Runner - you have to know how to manipulate how the AI moves a bit, and it's a style of game that probably doesn't appeal to everyone
Lords of Thunder - fairly popular fantasy shmup with metal soundrack. Can pick your weapon type and stage order, and you can buy upgrades between levels.
Super Star Soldier, Blazing Lasers, Final Soldier, Soldier Blade - Compile shmups are solid and and accessible for even people who aren't very good at the genre, although they're all fairly similar to one another (so if you only get one I'd say get Soldier Blade, or maybe Blazing Lasers)
Chew Man Fu - maze arcade game where the goal is to push balls onto matching pressure plates, and you can use the balls to run over enemies or break down walls
Neutopia - Zelda 1 clone
Dungeon Explorer - Gauntlet clone I guess?
Necromancer - mostly just mentioning it to say don't buy it, it's an rpg and it's not translated

There's also some ports of Gradius and Salamander/Life Force that have some differences from other versions, but the differences probably don't mean a whole lot for non fans and I don't think they have Gradius 2 on there which would be the one of them that I would suggest if you only wanted to play one.

A lot of the same games are on the Turbografx Mini (and some ones that aren't), if you're interested in one. Though there's also some on the eshop that aren't on the Mini (Bonk 3, Battle Lode Runner, Final Soldier). If you're only interested in buying a couple Turbografx titles, I'd say the best overall ones to consider would be Soldier Blade, Lords of Thunder, and Devil's Crush.

Apparently I didn't get much of the DLC for NSMB2 and Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice. Good thing I checked.

Yes. This event has technically always been in the game, even in the English version, but was unavailable without hacking on the GBC cart. They made it accessible for VC. Once per save file. Great for what was once a notoriously difficult Pokemon to get.

Haha, I did pretty much the same thing! I wonder why Capcom decided to ditch 3DS sales for Europe so long ago when they've been regularly putting them out for US to this day.

Make sure y'all don't have any download codes from inserts, Humble Bundles, etc. I had a bunch from 2016 that I'm redeeming now haha.
