i did a little frog catching before/right when i got quina before the storylibe asked for it, and i caught like 2-3 frogs the first time i went to the northeen continent. otherwise no sidequests at all

do any of these take over like 3 hours? if they do i"m probably out, but otherwise i'm pretty game to see some fun stuff

Yeah it would take a bit to go to every chocobo forest in order, get all the chocographs, and then actually find the places on the world map to get the items.

If you use a guide, you could get all the Stellazio coins pretty quickly.

Chocobo Hot & Cold goes decently quickly with the speed up, you get sped up but the timer doesn't.

Chocobo Hot and Cold easily has the best rewards of the side quests.

Yes, your weapons' attack powers are inverted. That's why the treasure chests contain your base level weapons.

been a busy few weeks in terms of having people over plus pokemon. think i'll get some in these next few days. i'm leaning against doing much side questing; i caught some frogs but i'm bad at it and it's frustrating lol

I've caught maybe 25 frogs in all my years playing FF9

The game will drive you insane if you try to do all of the side content

One of my favorite FF podcasts is starting IX near the end of the month; between that and this topic I'm thinking of replaying it myself.

It's not that bad. I just couldn't do the jump roping. Or tetra master but thats its own thing.

There are three things that Id put in the drive you crazy category. Jump rope, Hippaul racing (though I somehow actually did that one last time), and Excalibur II. The rest is fine if youre using a guide.

(Oh and also the 1/256 steals I guess)

This. Most of the side content is fine and easily doable.

I mean it's doable but a lot of it is tedious, especially if you're not following a guide

what a colossal letdown

title card for terra is pretty great though

one thing i don't love about ffix is that you have to use zidane all the time. in ffviii the cast sucked so you always wanted squall anyway, while in ffvii cloud still outshone everyone by enough

i also just want to level everyone evenly and this obviously is thrown off

give me more party splits

also for fuck's sake virus is annoying

It is a pretty big letdown, even I can concede that and I love the game. Really was a missed opportunity.

i kinda feel like that was a sign of running out of budget? there was so much production made of everyone pairing off, and they even designed models for two of the other bosses, as well as some interiors...

I love that part of the game for the storyline value

Indeed it is. The whole scene is enhanced so much by that music.

Did you synthesize a bracer in Black Mage Village? That will teach Amarant Power Throw. Then the best weapon to throw will be ultima swords you can buy in Daguerreo.
