No idea what happened but my Slime farm broke. I got a lot of slimeballs from my afk session, but I noticed there were also other mob drops in the storage system, and I was like "huh???" so I went inside. there were a ton of skeletons, zombies, creepers, and endermen inside. not sure how that happened but now I have to get more brown mushrooms to replace the ones the endermen picked up, and I need to build a new iron golem in the center to replace the one that died. must have happened within the past hour or something because the storage system had just as many slimeballs as it had yesterday. Guess I need to place more light sources across the swamp to prevent endermen spawns.

Repaired my slime farm. Lets see if it breaks again :0

Yeah the slime farm works better than ever. I afked for another 7 hours. My storage system was overflowing. it has never done that before, usually for the same amount of time it's barely half full. So I must have missed something when I initially built it. I have 3 shulkers of slime blocks now, which is more than I'll ever need. I think tomorrow I'm gonna breed a bunch of bees and make an automatic honey and honeycomb farm.

New snapshot out. New advancement, some more technical changes, bug fixes. Also wow they fixed a 12 year old bug involving the game calculating which block you are on when your hitbox is only partially touching it. And I guess we only get 2 Sniffer plants? I thought there would be like 3 or 4. In fact there was a leaked Sniffer plant that we know they were working on that I guess just isn't going to be in 1.20. Maybe in 1.20.x or something since they said 1.20 will get a few sub updates with new features.

One of the most fascinating aspects of Minecraft to me is the world generation and the shape of a Minecraft world. Way back in the day, Minecraft had what was known as "continental" generation. Something like that. The problem is the oceans were waaaaaay too big. Like you could literally travel in a straight line for hundreds of thousands or millions of blocks in a continental world and never run into land. And this was back before The Update Aquatic, so ocean were barren, lifeless voids with gravel floors and nothing else. So that was clearly a problem. Something like this. But the problem here is that the oceans are now too small. They're more like lakes. If you look at a Minecraft seed on a mapping tool like Chunkbase, and zoom out as far as you can, and scroll around, you realize the oceans are actually tiny, and only make up like 30% or something of a Minecraft world. The world is literally one massive continuous landmass occasionally broken up by a couple kilometer wide lake. This is a problem for a completely different reasons. It feels unrealistic, and it's hard to call them oceans when they really aren't.
I think what they should do is make a world generation option that's somewhere in the middle of the two. Not as "dense" as the modern generation type, but not as sparse and barren as old continental generation. Would make exploring more interesting I feel. There is the Large Biomes generation, but that's not really what I want. The single, infinitely large landmass is still how Large Biomes worlds generate. But the oceans are pretty big in Large Biomes worlds. I actually feel like if they kind of changed the ratios of land to ocean in a Large Biomes world, and called that generation "continental" that would be exactly what I would want. Very large oceans and land masses, but you don't have to travel to far to get between land masses.

Also fun tidbit about world shapes. The shape of the Nether for any given seed has never once been changed. If you go back to Alpha 1.3.0, put in a seed, and go to the Nether, then if you were to enter the same seed in a modern world and go to the Nether in the same spot, you would see the exact same generation and shape. Even though The Nether Update added new structures and ore and biomes to the Nether, they did not change the shape at all.

Went searching for diamonds because I realized I will probably need a lot more for 1.20 than I currently have. No diamonds so far, but I found this sick double zombie dungeon. I can make a badass XP farm from this.

Yeah I'm basically just mass acquiring resources like wood and diamonds and building materials. I think I am going to construct a new base in 1.20. I'm gonna try to fill several double chests full of ore blocks, then Fortune pick them all and see what I get.

1.20 release candidate 1 is out! Just 1 week to go! Too bad I'm preoccupied with Zelda and FFXIV right now, but I'll find time to play it and go hunting for trims. Also I might reset some chunks to try and get cherry blossoms and trail ruins close to my base.

This game updates far too frequently imo. I'm like 5 major updates behind now and trying to play it is like trying to learn it all over again. Doesn't help that I've already played the game to death so it's not nearly as enjoyable as the first time around.

I mean when I picked it back up last year, I literally hadn't played it in like 10 years, so it was a joy to discover all the new things that had been added in that time.

It's out! Time to hunt for trims!

I'm so glad I didn't explore my world last year when I started out, then when I found out that they were adding the trims to pretty much every major structure I knew that it would make exploring this world much more fun and it was. I raided some jungle temples, some pillager outposts, found some desert wells and pyramids, did some archaeology. I even found a trail ruin and found the new music disc! And then I topped it off with raiding my first ever Woodland Mansion. I got a few totems, some diamonds and emeralds. Only one trim though. And yeah I already found a LOT of trims from all of that exploring! Want to do more exploring later this week, try to hit up some Ancient Cities and Bastions. I was going to go and search for a Stronghold to get the Eye trim but I realized I needed to take a break before raid in FFXIV tonight, so I'll do that tomorrow and probably hop on over to the End for a bit to look for End Cities. And, yes, I've decided. I AM going to build a new base. I'm going to look around a bit for a nice spot, essentially turn my 1.19 base into overflow storage. I will still use it for some things, I'll probably occasionally live there. But I want to try to build a big cool base. But I gotta find those trims first so I can do it in style :D

But also 1.20 released yesterday so it will probably be a few days or a week or something until server plugins are ready. But, also, very important. DON'T DOWNLOAD MODS. There is currently malware spreading via mods on Curseforge and other sites. I *think* its been partially dealt with at this time, but might still be a couple days until it's safe to use mods again.

I went out in search of ancient cities to look for a Silence trim. Literally the very first chest I opened had one. I'll look for another city next time I play, cus I want to avoid spending diamonds on duplicating trims as much as I can. Then decided to go to The End to look for Spire trims. Headed out in a direction I'd never gone before and started flying. Searched like idk 25 cities? Took over an hour to find the first trim, was beginning to think something was wrong. Took another couple hours to get the other 4 I wanted. x_x The last city I checked had 3 of the trims too. Idk what was going on, just unlucky I guess. But yeah next time I play, gonna hit up another Ancient City, then go to the Nether to look for Fortresses and Bastions. Because I believe the Nether trims are the only ones I don't have at least one of, and I need to get the Netherite template anyway to start upgrading a bunch of this gear I got from the End.

Oh no. I was in the Nether and disaster struck. I'm not entirely sure what happened. I was hunting for trims and armor upgrade templates. landed on a fortress. A second later I was on fire and whithered, a second later I was dead. Didn't see any skeletons or blazes, totem didn't pop. I managed to get back there and there were like 30 zombie piglins and whither skeletons holding my gear and blazes all over the place. I managed to get some of my stuff back, but my chest and helmet, and my tools are all gone. I wonder if like the game bugged out and I just landed in a bunch of monsters and I just couldn't see them or something. >_< Oh well, I'm swimming in gear and diamonds and netherite, I can recover from this, but that is rough. I did find like 7 upgrade templates and a snout trim. Still have not found a fortress trim which I think is the only one I'm missing.

So I reevalutated and turns out I didn't lost as much as I though. All I really needed to replace that was major were my helmet and chest and Elytra, which, I have tons of all of those lying around. Just need to farm some exp at the gold farm for a bit, and smashes some pieces and books together, retrimmed, and voila, good as new! I also went around some oceans to do some archy to get some sniffer eggs and I explored like 20 different sets of ruins and all I got was like 30 wooden hoes and 2 sherds. :P Also explored an ancient city and got bupkis.

r/Minecraft shutdown "until demands are met" so I guess r/Minecraft is just gone forever now. :|

Anyway gonna look for sniffer eggs again today. I'm kinda shocked I haven't found a single one yet considering how many warm ocean ruins I've been too.

I long to return and build in Minecraft, but I've been away for so long I fear it'd be a lot to catch up on.

And while I did a lot of the fun Hunger Games and Zombies servers etc. back in the day, I feel like I just want to build these days.

Yeah I want to build more, and every time I'm like "okay, going to build this thing today!" I'm just like "well... what if I spend 4 hours on this thing and it looks like shit?" lol then I don't build.

Anyway did a bunch of exploring. Found a MASSIVE desert that goes on for thousands and thousands of blocks, and it was dotted with warm oceans, so I built a bamboo raft and went sailing. It took me a long time, but I finally got some sniffer eggs. I was beginning to think my world was like bugged or something cus I got dozens of axes and hoes and occasionally a sherd, then I got 3 eggs in a row, then later I got 2 more, so I have 5 sniffer eggs now! I'm gonna do some research on automatic sniffer farms, go out to an ocean, build the farm and hatch and breed me some sniffers!

Then I went and did a few Ancient Cities. Didn't find any Silence trims, but I got like 13 enchanted apples, a bunch of enchanted books, bunch of diamonds, and 4 Ward trims. So I'm good on Ward trims. I could just duplicate the Silence trim I already have, but it feels like more of an achievement to find them, since they're so rare.

I wish echoshards could be used to make like a sculk trim color, would give them another use besides the echo compass, and that would be a pretty cool trim color, especially if it has the sculk animation.

And I still have not been back to the Nether to look fore more Nether trims yes after I suddenly died last time. But I need to do that.

Is that the guy who built the super tall tower then jumped off it?

He might have done that at some point on stream, I dont really know, but thats actually one of the advancements, jump from build limit to bedrock and survive. Ive done that. Just make sure theres water where you plan to land, and maybe carry a totem if you dont trust the water lol
But really what this guy is all about is building absolutely insane farms and machines and running them for weeks or months nonstop, then using the resources from those things to do even crazier things

Also have 4 farms here ready to go to plants all the seeds. Built it over the ocean to reduce lag, and also I might add more farms out here so I can go afk and build up a seed supply and other things.

The first Pitcher Plants are already growing, and a couple more snifflets have grown up. Once this farm is completely up and running I'm gonna be swimming in sniffer plants. Just wish there were more than 2. Hopefully in a 1.20.x patch they add a couple more.

It was probably posted in the other thread. He built it then jumped off and it took like two weeks IRL time to hit the bottom.

Does anyone have any experience with the Create Mod? I've seen it brought up on a couple occasions as trying to make Minecraft more similar to Factorio (which is fun because Factorio started out as an effort to expand on what tech-modded Minecraft could do), and the couple trailers I've watched look pretty interesting. I might give it a try some time.

Funnily enough create mod is what got me interested in minecraft again, seeing videos of people building trains
then I opted to play unmodded to learn the game since I hadnt played in so long and just never bothered to try create lol

That's fair. It's been a very long time since I've played vanilla, with my last foray being Botania, which at the time only worked up to 1.10 (iirc. This was like 3-4 years ago now).

Went around to several Fortresses looking for a Rib trim. Still have not found one. idk if I'm just unlucky or if I'm doing something wrong? idk. I'll keep looking.
Also I was like "where the hell is my shulker with emergency supplies? I can't find it." and went all over the place looking for it at various farms and bases, and even some structures like a woodland mansion and Ancient City like 8000 blocks away from my base. Eventually I realized "wait... did I leave it at spawn?" and I did. I was building a pyramid for my nephew and left it there lol.

Also speaking of my nephew and the woodland mansion, he was watching me raid it, and he was like "Uncle papercup did you build this?" "No, the bad guys built it." "So why are you here?" "I'm looking for rare items." "So you're stealing?" "No no no, I'm not stealing." "Uncle papercup, you shouldn't steal!" "They're bad guys! Look! They're shooting me!" "Uncle papercup is stealing!"

FINALLY got around to building that honey farm I've been talking about for forever lol. It just seemed like so much work to breed all the bees up, but I finally just did it. Somehow three hives went missing, so time to go make more and breed up a few more bees. I also smelted 9 entire shulkers of sand into glass and crafted them all into bottles.

Just the time it took me to fill all the dispensers, I got enough honey for 23 blocks lol I'm gonna let this run afk for a couple hours tomorrow to see how many blocks I get!

Edit: Oh, and I built the farm on the Nether roof because bees don't sleep in the Nether :D they're free to work tirelessly forever! :D

One hour of being afk. I'll let it run for a few more hours and see what I get! I actually thought it would be a little bit faster than it is, but not biggie. My goal is like 2 or 3 full shulkers of honey blocks, should be good for a long time, then I'll switch out the bottles for sheers. Good thing making honey blocks recycles the bottles, that was expensive and time consuming making all those bottles.

4 hours afk at the honey farm. I wonder if some of the bees maybe despawned or something? :X idk I'll run it again tomorrow or the day after or something for another 4 hours and see what it gets me! Like I said, I probably don't need to be swimming in honey blocks, just a couple shulkers worth I assume. Slime is still the go-to sticky block for redstone afterall. Which, speaking of, I want to expand the slime farm. I'm thinking 3 more tiles. Would mean I have to lower the afk platform a bit, which could cause monsters to spawn underground, so I'll just have to check to make sure there's no caves under the swamp.

Afk'd for a little over 5 hours today, and the shulker is about half full of honey blocks now. So just need to do that for like 5 more days and should be more than enough. Then I'm going to try and expand my slime farm, then I think I want to try digging a perimeter somewhere to make some crazy farms :D. Also there's this MASSIVE desert a couple km south of my base that's like 10 km across. I kinda want to build a sand quarry to dig the whole thing up to get millions and millions and millions of sand so anytime I need to make TNT or glass or concrete or what have you I'll never need to dig it by hand again. And I refuse to build a sand duper cus that just seems like cheating.

Also I need to get back to archaeology and hunting for a rib trim soon.

YES FINALLY FOUND IT! Last Trim I needed. That took sooo long too. Also funnily enough it's actually in a Fortress really close to my base, it was just obscured by a soulsand valley. And it was in a direction I hadn't gone yet. I already have some upgrade templates, but I'm gonna go hit up some Bastions to find some more, then I think I want to look for some trail ruins to get more of those Trims.

Of course a Piglin Brute ran up behind me on top of a Bastion, popped my totem and killed me while I was desperately trying for several seconds to open my wings to fly away and wasted like 10 rockets and my stuff probably all went in the lava. Why wouldnt that happen. At least Im loaded on gear and diamonds and I have this gold farm which also gives me a fuckton of exp, but God damn. Next world Im turning keep inventory to true.

Okay got most of it back. Helmet and tools nowhere to be seen though.

And just like that good as new!
So yeah goals right now:
Excavate some Trail Ruins for more trims
Build a Raid Farm and/or Witch Farm
Blast for Netherite
Grind an insane amount of levels
Make 1 of every Netherite Armor set for each trim and enchant all of them fully

And then long term goals I wish to complete are drain a monument for a Guardian farm
Dig a big hole in a mountain all the way down to an Ancient City portal and build a badass bass in there
Build an End base
