This, and it's possible Eru (God) would probably get fed up with it and flood/destroy middle earth like he did Numenor.

And start an eternal war between men and elves while destroying the alliance they worked so hard to forge? Elrond was screwed with either decision.

i don't know much about lotr but aren't elves physically gifted? he could just take it from isildur by force, without killing him. maybe.

The book may exp,ain more. But in the movie, all we see inside mount doom is Isildur and Elrond

Elves and the Valar are restricted by their nature. Elrond never considered the possibility Isildur would take the ring, let alone the idea of kicking Isildur in the fire and ending the whole thing himself.

Humans were gifted free will by Eru, so they have the option to surprise everyone and take the Ring.
You constantly see Elves confused and surprised by the decisions Humans make within the Silmarillion.

Elrond couldnt have prevented the Lord of the Rings because the Lord of the Rings is Sauron, a Maia, who existed before Eru Ilvatar awakened the Eldar.

Also Elves aren't much for murder. Killing an ally/friend would not be something easy even before the possible fallout is considered.

Regardless, I also don't think Elrond could take on Isidulr, a pure Numeronean king with the strength that rivaled or even surpassed elves, and who is now under the influence and power of the ring. It wouldn't have been as simple as "pushing him off", and it's likely it would've ended badly in the scuffle.

Sauron should have invested in stronger finger armor. Then his ring finger would not have been sliced off

Sauron should have put the ring on his dick instead, and put a fake ring on his finger to fool his enemies.

Could be considered a censor bypass.

Isildur was pretty formidable, and was wielding the One Ring. Elrond wouldn't have had a chance in a fight.

Tossing the ring into the volcano apparently causes it to erupt, so Elrond would have had a decent diversion.

If Sauron had worn the ring on his cock instead of his finger, would he have won?

He also didn't have to be a cocky piece of shit and tried to grab isildurs neck. Could have just smashed him with his mace.

If I remember right, Cirdan of the Havens would have been there with Elrond and Isildur and I'm not even sure they were even there inside Mt. Doom. They most likely had any sort of conversation at some camp nearby. Regardless of where it was, surely Isildur, being a king, would have guards nearby. Even if Sauron was defeated there still could have been orcs or other creatures about.

Also, besides it not being in the nature of elves to just kill someone like that, Isildur was a distant relative of Elrond's, a decendent of Elrond's brother Elros. I doubt Elrond could kill someone akin to him.

Another thing to consider is if the wise of Middle Earth knew at the time that destroying the ring was the only way to keep Sauron from returning.

And while it's not thoroughly explained, Sauron losing the ring didn't happen like in the books. In the text it's implied that Sauron "died" while battling Elendil and Gil-Galad, who also perished, and Isildur cut the ring from Sauron's body, which was basically a shell at that point since Sauron's spirit retreated elsewhere.

Historically, considering how hesitant people are at preventing the spread of evil / corruption before it gets out of hand in real life, this is probably one of the most plausible aspects of LotR.

All that drama could've been avoided if Eru Ilvatar was actually good at creating existence.

Btw is Sauron dead for good at the end of Return of the King? Did his spirit get sent to hell or something? Or could he someday rebuild his strength again?

If I remember right, he's still technically "alive", but just as a spirit that has absolutely no power and will never be able get any again. I guess he's just forced to wander the world forever until it's ended.

His former master Melkor/Morgoth was forced through the doors of night and is imprisoned in oblivion. That's the closest thing to a hell in the Tolkien universe. There's the Halls of Mandos where the spirits of dead elves stay for a time, but they're more like purgatory.
