Oh hey. A [10] v [10] match in match 2. First of its kind for me outside of ToC3. What a treat. I will cherish it for the rest of the match time and then be sad when it ends.

I love today's music... Isoleucine is 47th place, Fatal Blooms is 28th place (ok, it's ranked too high--I like Isoleucine more), and UD contains IDOLA the Strange Fruits which (the original) is 22nd place in my favorite vgm list (granted, I like the original far more than this medley-ized version). Second match is tough, because the sound quality of One Who Bares Fangs is better than most other tracks in Xenogears....its exceptional in setting its mood.

I find the hive jump ost to be kind of in between vvvvvv and shatter with bonus guitar sometimes

-(ISOLEUCINE)- is without a doubt the best song in the 13S soundtrack. The synths, chords, rhythms, strings (albeit fake), all work together really well to create a pure ear candy experience. Best part is from 2:23-2:49. Problem with this match is that Abandon Me is my favorite Chicory song as well. It's another fantastic aural experience with great synths and production. Really tough match, but Isoleucine is too good.

Unfathomable Darkness is pretty good, particularly the second half. There are some lulls in this though, so it ends up more of a mixed bag than anything. I still mostly enjoyed it regardless. Fangs Bared at God, on the other hand, is my favorite song from Xenogears, and possibly my favorite song by Mitsuda in general. What an incredible soundscape. The haunting vocals, the bass drum, chimes, the ostinato in the mallet percussion sample, they all work perfectly together to create the soundscape. Easy vote here.

Burninating the Jumpers is pretty fun. Nice mix of e-guitars with chiptune synths. Fatal Blooms in Moonlight is nice, though it's not jumping out to me as anything special. Weakest match of the day, but still good songs here.

That's it, I'm buying Chicory now and playing it soon after the new year starts.

I was also expecting something more dramatic with a title like "One Who Bares Fangs at God", but I was still pleasantly surprised with what I got instead! Ambient and mysterious-sounding, real good stuff.

Hive Jump is also very good, I'm just sad it went up against one of my favorite tracks from Triple Deluxe.

match 1 is really mean lmao. isoleucine is cool too but not my favourite 13s song.

match 2 was more nostalgic than i thought it would be. i know pso2 will use leitmotifs from past games in the series, but wow didn't expect this. xenogears is pretty nostalgic too, naturally. absolutely absurd. this is also a really fucked match.

hive jump song titles are always a treat regardless of how i feel about the songs themselves. this one sounds better than it did on first listen, but my vote is still a no brainer in favour of kirby. kirby final boss music is very much and totally aggressively My Thing.
