I haven't seen enough of them to feel comfortable voting but I think the one I'm most pissed made that much is Alice in Wonderland, not necessarily for the quality of the film but because of the direction Disney went in as a result of its success.

Hmm this reminds me that Minions hit this mark and its absence from the poll means it has a better RT score than Rise of Skywalker which is *puke*.

To be fair, at least Minions is a fairly harmless childrens' movie (it's not *good*, but it's not nearly as monstrous as people think it is) whereas episode IX is truly an utter failure at being a good star wars movie

Yikes, this is...not a good list.

I went with The Lion King (2019) because it's such an embarrassment to the original movie. Among the ones I've watched, it's between that and Alice.

I haven't watched many of the moves that broke $1 billion. The Star Wars sequels at least had the advantage of being good popcorn flicks even if the story was crap (plus I'm not that invested in the Star Wars franchise). Alice in Wonderland, though... man, that committed the sin of being dull.

What's amazing to me about the billion dollar list is that a week ago people were calling Avatar 2 the biggest flop even and now it's over a billion in under two weeks.

Anyway, I've only had the misfortune of seeing two of the movies in the poll, SW:EP 1 and JW2 and Those Jurassic World movies are garbage. Luckily for me I could see how bad the first Pirates and Transformers movies were and got off those trains fast. Everybody needs to stop lying to themselves, not even the first in those series were any good.

Alice in Wonderland also came out when the 3D movie fad was at it's peak.

Also it was pretty rare for a movie to make a billion at the box office when it came out which made it even more crazy that it was that successful.

The outrage of how bad IX is is still fresh, I think. I agree TPM is the lesser movie but I'm still actively irritated by IX, while TPM has long since passed into "we can all laugh about this in a few years" territory

Why are the Jurassic World movies such box office beasts when they are the most generic and forgettable action movies imaginable? They don't even have the Superhero clutch but fucking Dominion (one of the worst movies I saw this year, and I certainly didn't go see it at theaters) broke $1 Billion.

I would say Episode I is a much better movie than the rest of the poll although its not especially good. It also stands out as the only one of those to hit a billion through a rerelease, along with Jurassic Park, OG The Lion King, and Harry Potter and The Philosophers Stone.

Episode IX got my vote as it is very, very bad although honestly Alice in Wonderland may be even worse. The worst reviewed of these is Transformers Age of Extinction which is the only one of these I havent seen. Im a little surprised to see Dark of the Moon so far ahead of it really, though maybe a lot of people like me jumped off there. The second one is still the worst though thankfully it did not hit a billion.

The reason those two made a billion is the growth of China, by the way. For Age of Extinction in particular it actually saw a major drop in box office takings outside China but that was counterbalanced by the increase within it.

I mean yeah the first Jurassic World movie understandably had a lot of hype behind it but the movie itself wasn't anything remotely close to a great movie. But then two movies happened after that, each subsequently worse so the fact that Dominion the third movie broke 1 bill despite terrible reviews across the board is easily the most shocking entry here. I understand the other options are shocking because they are bad movies as well but they are not the poorly reviewed third movie in a franchise already having diminishing returns. On Stranger Tides have the excuse of being a long awaited sequel to the trilogy after a certain time has passed.
