Sometimes I ask myself why I don't travel as much as I should, then I read articles like this and think how grateful I am to be stuck at home rather than in an airport

My mom use to get Southwest for my rides home. But I wanted to fly from the small airport so I wouldnt have to drive 2-3 hours to the airport. So, that made it so I had to fly American And I guess that was a good idea

I'm sitting on one of the few Southwest flights that hasn't been canceled in the last week

Only 100/175 seats on this plane will be filled, so I get the whole row to myself since everyone is spreading out. Wild. I'm lucky as hell lol

If that's not a scathing indictment of the whole ordeal, I don't know what is. Flights cancelled all over the place, people unable to rebook on other flights, but then the flights that do run are at sub-60% capacity? That's just poor administration.

^ Right. Although I suppose most people who had options at all probably chose to drive cross-country/make other plans rather than rely on Southwest in the near future. The family across the street from me is spending a sad week here in MN rather than being warm in Mexico because of cancelled flights.

They probably should have had a suitcase packed into every empty seat from the sounds of it though.

Yeah it's been a proper shit show. First I barely made it out of Chicago on the first leg of the trip, but that was legit because of the approaching snow storm.

Then I saw how many flights they were canceling earlier this week and booked a backup flight with United Airlines just in case...but I kept checking FlightAware and it looked like my flight home was one of the very few still running as normal.
