Actually (even though I said it just now) I wasn't the one to bring any of this up, I wasn't going to talk politics at all

It was one part of a long message about jobs, and I had a bad feeling bringing it up but I didn't listen to that. I literally just said I wouldn't work there because I don't want to be on a skeleton crew and would love to work at Google instead, but that was enough to get her talking about qanon and triggering liberals, so god damn.

To paraphrase, she was like, "hold up, you don't like Twitter? Make me choose between Elon Musk and anyone else and I'm going to pick Elon daddy every time"

Just remember for every person that won't shut up about how much they hate Elon there's another that's the exact opposite. It's almost like no one would hate him if there weren't millions of cultists around him

Also keep in mind that I don't talk to girls/people irl like I talk to you guys

I talk to girls like "Yeah I respect having different opinions, it's good to talk about these things with a level head" which is a hilarious lie. You guys hear the truth, which is that I think the word "opinion" is used 90% as an excuse to be detached from reality with incorrect facts, and 10% of the time (correctly) as your favorite flavor of ice cream

I work with some really crazy people. At the beginning of the year Musk was a moron. Then around the time he was about to take control they "weren't sure" about him. After he started doing the objectively stupid stuff he has done since taking over twitter he's "a genius with all kinds of successful businesses, did you know he made paypal?" (seriously one of my coworkers adds on "did you know he made paypal?" to reinforce his assertion Musk is a genius)

It was actually kind of sad to watch how they grew to like him as Musks insanity became more and more apparent.

I knew it wasn't as simple as "he made it" but I wasn't really sure and admittedly didn't care enough to go digging because the dude who tells me that always tells me crazy shit so I largely just ignore the stuff he says.

Not only did he not invent PayPal, he was fired for being incompetent before they were successful or changed their name to paypal.

One of those things was refusing to let the development team use Linux.

Ouch, sorry to hear about this! I don't know much about relationship stuff but I think having aligned views of the world is pretty important.
