and there is one scene way further down the line that really highlights that ussop takes out a bad guy in a bar and is super proud of himself only for nami to casually take out the entire bar

the current crews power ranking would go like this

luffy > zoro > sanji > robin > chopper > nami > ussop

The dubbed version is sung by Chopper's English voice actress Brina Palencia, and the lyrics were adapted by Caitlin Glass, who voices Princess Vivi.

That one's my second favorite, with opening two being my favorite.

I 100% agree.

Also, I know quanitity of fights doesn't necessarily indicate power level, but it does show us more glimpses into their abilities. The fact is, where I'm at now, Ussop has had WAY more fights, and we've gotten to see that, when his back is really against the wall, and by all rhyme and reason SHOULD lose and/or die, he can pull through. When he's got nothing left, he always manages to pull out one last trick or rally and beat his opponent, even if they're way stronger than him.

Nami's had 2 fights so far. Both were played up for jokes, and both of them she really struggled, especially her first real one back in Albasta. Overall she's a MUCH more capable and well-rounded character, but when it comes strictly to being able to win fights, Ussop has her beat by a lot.

Also I do really wish Chopper had more screen time, I love the little dude.

My current ranking of the current crew, from favorite to least favorite:
Zoro
Chopper
Luffy
Nami
Robin
Ussop
Sanji

But I do love all of them, including Sanji.

i did enjoy sanji but his schtick is getting tiring and needs more depth than omg women <3 <3 <3

The issue with Sanji is that isn't a personality flaw, it's his entire personality. He's the only crew member I dislike and it isn't just dislike for me, I just straight up hate him lol.

Robin and Luffy are my faves though <3

I get not liking him because of how often it comes up, but saying perviness is Sanji's only personality trait is like saying Zoro's only personality trait is being an alcoholic.

Alright, I'm a wee bit drunk rn, so Imma lay out my full thoughts on Sanji.

Is womanizing Sanji's ONLY character trait?

... Technically no. But the reason that's true is because when there's not a woman in the room/area, he actually acts like a normal human being. But the SECOND there's an attractive woman involved, he goes full womanizer, and I'll be real, that gets real old, real quick.

That said.

I will give credit where it's due tho, as of where I'm at at this very moment (nearing the end of Skypeia), Sanji is probably the least obnoxious "perv" character I've seen in an anime. Yes, the second a hot lady shows up he goes all heart eyes and fawns over them, but he is (let me super clear, this is by Anime standards only) relatively respectful. Yes, he constantly fawns over Nami, but the second she shuts him down, he chills*. He (again, SOLELY by anime standards) is good about stopping his advances once it's clear they're not being reciprocated. He'll keep cooking meals and clearly doing things to endear himself to the ladies, but he hasn't done anything full on creep mode, like say, Mineta from My Hero or even Miroku from Inyuasha.

Like, it's a low bar. But I've seen WAY worse in anime, so I can't help but give him a little slack.

That said tho, he is still by FAR my least favorite crew-member. He has cool moments (I actually really liked the whole Mr Prince character arc back in Albasta), but the womanizer element is a bit too prevalent for my liking. Which sucks, cause his intro arc was fucking awesome, I just wish he'd stop thinking with his dick like, literally ever.

Also, this talk of being pervy makes me wanna bring something up from awhile ago I forgot to mention.

Back in Alabasta, there was a scene where they were all in the like, hot springs or whatever.

The king was straight up perving, but the only 2 people on the ladies side of the hot springs were Nami and the king's literal daughter Vivi, and IIRC he at one point straight up has the anime bloody nose after peeking or some shit.

Like, wtf. That's super fucked up.

I love the moment where Luffy discovers Zoro (and everyone else) has been fried. He's so disbeliving that Zoro was able to lose, I love how much trust he has in him. I know there's not that much of a official hierarchy in the crew, but in a lot of ways Zoro is his right hand man. He was his first crewmate, and has proven how strong he is time and again.

Also I love any time Luffy gets completely serious, it's such a stark contrast to his regular happy-go-lucky personality.

It's a great show, got to the Crocadile arc but decided to take a long break from watching it but will resume soon since the fight scenes are pretty awesome so far

It was wayyyy too long for me, especially at anime one piece pace. That is when I switched over to the colored manga which I highly recommend. Its a much better pace, if you must insist on watching the anime I reccmoend One Pace, which is a fan edit of One Piece that cuts out a lot of the filler and shortens parts that are drawn out.

This arc has some really fun and well developed lore. I've loved all the lore-history dumps they've done about the sky sea's culture. Also learning the truth about Nolan was a pretty fun payout.

I can't decide if I like Skypiea or Albasta overall more; I think Skypie leaned more into the bat shit craziness more which I liked, but honestly the last bit of the arc did start to feel like it went on just a little bit too long/slightly too dragged out. That said though, i still really enjoyed all the crazy world-building and character development they did here, and I also love that just Luffy's existence was enough to foil Enaru's plans lol.

Excited to see what the deal is with the poneglyphs and the ancient weapon stuff, they're slowly teasing more and more that this shit's gonna be important later, I'm excited.

One relatively minor complaint I have with the show in general is that they keep undoing like, 80% of the death and carnage at the end of each of these giant arcs. Like, I get it, this show is still supposed to be accessible for kids and you don't want insanely high death counts, but imo it takes away some of the impact of these battles and sacrifice moments when you know there's a 90% chance that the character who "died" sacrificing themselves actually just got knocked unconscious or whatever. I get doing that with the main crew, plot armor is a thing for a reason, but EVERY fucking side character is almost guaranteed to survive unless they're a bad guy, and even then that's not a guarantee all the time either.

Get used to it lol

Finished the navy base mini-arc, was a pretty fun first romp back on the great blue sea.

idk, it's weird, but is still kinda fun so far.

Fun fact, the marine arc was filler, but it's the best filler. Long Ring is canon but the anime does stretch things out somewhat....though soon enough you'll witness something legendary

not burnt out, per se, just been using free time to play hogwarts legacy and just had bachelor weekend past few days. but i am a creature of habits, and without watching episodes for over a week now, it's hard to get back into it.

I kinda figured the Marine arc was technically filler, but I actually really did like it.

I think "filler" is sometimes uses too liberally/negaitvely; it gave us a fun story arc with fun antagonists, gave us some cool individual crew-member moments, and also hinted at their desperate need for a proper shipwright, which I'm fairly confident will come up later. So idk, filler just seems like a harsh descriptor for that mini-arc.

I feel that, but at this point as weird as it might seem, I've kinda made One Piece part of my nightly routine. Get home from work, make some dinner, sit down and smoke a bowl or two and just watch One Piece till I pass out.

It's pretty great tbh.

Commander Johnathan makes a brief cameo in a later arc. Kinda sets him apart from most other filler arc characters, which is cool because he was cool.

That makes me happy, I liked Commander Jonathon a lot.

Also the fact that his name is just fucking Jonathon. Nothing crazy, he's just Jonathon. It's so strangely normal in comparison to most other characters and I love it.

It's a little frustrating (but still entertaining) how bad the whole crew is struggling with this whole game thing. They can fight Warlords of the sea and someone strong enough to claim to be a God, but they struggle with (relatively) simple games. Even if the Foxy crew is playing underhanded, the Straw Hats are apparently REAL bad at games.
