Never heard of this. Looking at the website I guess it's suppose to be a water bottle that makes the water smell, or mask the original smell of the water with a different smell.

The idea is that your sense of smell greatly influences your sense of taste (which is why food tastes bland when you are sick). If the water smells like lemon, it will "taste" like lemon, without needing to consume any chemicals.

Sometimes, if there are contaminants like sulphur, chlorine, iron, ammonia, or other chemicals. Some of these are harmless in small amounts but even at trace levels can contribute an odor. CTO (chlorine, taste, and odor) filters are HUGE business.
