Not suicidal ot atleast not yet but I don't enjoy life anymore. I keep thinking of other's suffering and I feel like everything is pointless. I've noticed that every movie and anime is the same exact story being told. I feel like I'm looking for something that doesn't exist.

Do you see a psychiatrist? Things you used to like suddenly feeling joyless can be a symptom of depression and you might benefit from meds.

But what kind of stuff do you normally watch? Maybe try to push yourself outside your comfort zone and try something from a genre, creator, or audience you normally ignore just to see if it'll spark something. Or maybe look into literature, too.

i mean theres more to life than movies and anime. Go bake a cake, or fly a kite, or volunteer.

Life is only as fulfilling as you make it.

This made me laugh but yeah I wish my life was like an anime where I got superpowers and had to do something big. I do need to stop watching it.

I have schizophrenia. Ugh that word sounds like the worst thing ever. I have ups and downs. But sometimes when I get down it feels like it's always been that way. I'll admit there are things I enjoy about life. I really like your suggestion. I'm gonna pick up a book again I didn't finish.

Unless a diagnosis of schizophrenia means you need to be careful about the kind of media you consume, I'm like 99% sure anime isn't your problem. Anime featuring Truck-kun sending an ordinary person off to a fantasy world where he or she will either automatically awesome or have a second chance at becoming awesome in a world of high technology or fantasy are popular for a reason. The cost of living is skyrocketing, wages are stagnant, there is a housing crisis, a looming climate crisis which we can already feel, the political situation is tenuous in America, and there is a war on that features one country constantly threatening and then unthreatening to use nuclear weapons.

You can bake a cake or fly a kite all you like, but at some point, the stress starts eating away at most people to some degree. I live in a small town, and the other day, I swear every single person I met while running errands was close to Morbing out. Hasn't been this bad around here since COVID started.

Try stepping out of your comfort zone, do your best, and see someone if you need to. It's all any of us can do, really. Also, if it doesn't bother you too much, try dipping your toes into one of those cute girls doing cute things shows. Or give Stardew Valley or Story of Seasons or something a try if you haven't played those kinds of games. I've always found immersing myself in relaxing, slow-paced media I can control very helpful.

You can do something big! Volunteer; do conscious small acts of kindness; learn to paint or play an instrument or write poetry or a story and share it with people here or irl just for the sake of sharing - these things may seem small, but they are things not very many people actually do, and I can confidently say the world would be a better place for your doing them. I know its easier said than done, but starting small is always the very first step to making a big impact.

I havent been diagnosed with schizophrenia, but I have dealt with psychosis for about 7 years now, and I really struggled at times with the feeling of detachment and the importance vs. unimportance of things becoming muddied and that making it hard for me to care about anything at all. Doing things where I can see another persons benefit from it helped me rationalize things.

If you've had psychosis for that long then yeah it's a form of schizophrenia I'm pretty sure. Mine came from taking psychedelics. I do try to do those acts of kindness by making music and uploading it to youtube. I'm also so lazy like probably in the top 1% of most lazy people. Almost everything feels like a chore. It sucks but oh well.

Yeah it's rough out here for everybody. Nobody can afford a house, inflation is a bitch, viruses everywhere etc. Depression at an all time high. And thanks for the suggestions I'll look into those games.

No but I've heard good things about it. I mainly make my own animes in my head lol with me as the main character. I want to get good at drawing to possibly animate my own series in the future. That would be nice.

Life may be an endless series of depressing events, but look at great men like George Washington who never gave up and made a difference with his life.
