Last Time on Board 8 Watches and Ranks: Our team of heroes faced off against some of the meanest antiheroes in the criminal underworld, but now we have a threat even greater to contend with... Oh wait. We're just making fun of everything this time? Well alright let's roll with it!

They say laughter is the best medicine and I think it's time to prove it. After much deliberation I have finally narrowed this list down to 30 of the most influential, funny and in some cases obscure parody films throughout the course of American history. Starting in 1933 and going all the way to 2019 we'll be satirizing everything from film genres do genuine hot button issues.

For those who already know the deal you can email your lists to me at [email protected] preferably in a Google Doc. As for the deadline I'll set it as Feb 13th for now, giving everyone a solid 3 months to complete their rankings, but I'm more than willing to add extensions as needed.

For anyone joining us for the first time what we do is pretty simple. After watching the 30 films on the following list we submit write ups of varying lengths (even just a sentence or two is fine!) and rank them. Where we then compile everyone's lists and find out which one is the best. Everyone is encouraged and welcome to join.

With all of that out of the way, I finally present to everyone the final list. I had to make some controversial decisions here, but I think overall it's going to be a fun time.

The List:
Duck Soup (1933)
Modern Times (1936)
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948)
Young Frankenstein (1974)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979)
Airplane! (1980)
Stripes (1981)
This is Spinal Tap (1984)
Beverly Hills Cop (1984)
Return of the Living Dead (1985)
Spaceballs (1987)
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)
The Freshman (1990)

Some interesting changes that I believe are mostly for the better. I'm definitely in!

Interesting that some of these spoof specific movie genres while others are societal satires.

Not Seen:
Return of the Living Dead
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
The Freshman
Black Dynamite
Sorry to Bother You
Jojo Rabbit

And while I can't think of which movie it would bump off the list, I was surprised not to see something by the Wayans family (mainly I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, or Don't Be a Menace).

Oh man, will I actually sit diwn and watch movies?

Edit: And lol, glad I didn't comment about Blazing Saddles and Scary Movie not being here because of recent lists, because that was already pointed out in the past five posts, XD

Kung Pow was also on the fairly recent Martial Arts list, iirc

Not that I ever really have the time/energy to participate myself, but I do enjoy reading through the ranking topics.

I watched Nightmare Alley tonight (it was okay), and it got me thinking, man, I bet you could make a list from those 3 Mexican directors who won all those Oscars a few years back. Well, I tried, and I got it to 24, at least from films they've directed. So not quite the 30 you're looking for but I'm sure it could be supplemented with ones they were the Writers on, maybe.

Anyway, not sure if this is a decent idea or if it's been done previously. But I'll throw it out there in case it piques anyone's interest.

Guillermo del Toro (12)
Cronos
Mimic
The Devil's Backbone
Blade II
Hellboy
Pan's Labyrinth
Hellboy II
Pacific Rim
Crimson Peak
The Shape of Water
Nightmare Alley
Pinocchio

Alfonso Cuaron (7)
A Little Princess
Great Expectations
Y tu mama tambien
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Children of Men
Gravity
Roma

Alejandro G. Irritu (5)
21 Grams
Babel
Biutiful
Birdman
The Revenant
