Which means, when you fly overseas with a US iPhone, you can't simply go to a convenience store and buy a SIM card... and have internet/cell phone service for the country your visiting for just a few bucks.

No, you're now locked into buying the uber-expensive overseas package from the US provider.

But iPhone lovers will say, "I WANT THIS!!!"

Honestly, I have no idea. I don't use an iPhone.

But it is so easy to buy an in-country SIM card at a convenience store for about $5-20 (depending on how much internet data you want)... and just swap out your US SIM card.

And it's good for a month.

No, the top-end does. I'll stick to my $150 Motorola that still does all the same shit, has a headphone jack, and will likely still have a SIM slot until they physically can't any more lol.

All top-end tech companies just copy each other and claim that they're the next big thing.

I don't know that I would care about having an eSIM-only phone. My phone already has eSIM functionality (with physical SIM) and my smartwatch has always been eSIM only. Seems like the next logical step.
