A lot has happened since the 20th century

my parents have a lot of prejudices about folk, but nothing hateful. they usually just say "oh you know X people are like this, etc."

but i mean

they've never tried to put them internment camps, slavery, or take away their basic human rights

I don't think my mom is, but my dad and stepmom definitely are. They don't come right out and say it, but I can read between the lines. Both former police too

i wouldnt say racist but they will say things that definitely show they are from an area and time where saying that kinda stuff was normal.

however, i've never seen them treat anyone negatively or differently.

They might not approve of all Caucasian people nowadays, but they're not unduly prejudiced towards them in general either.

Not racist, but they do say some questionable things about white people sometimes (we're Black). But they were children during the Civil rights movement, so they've seen some stuff.

I'm not sure if dad is or not. He says a ton of hateful and racist things, but I think it's only because he knows it bothers the rest of us. I don't think he truly feels that way... probably. At least I hope not.

Prejudiced for sure. Both my parents are mixed race Puerto Rican who grew up Catholic and conservative. They pretty much shit on anyone that isn't Latino.

when i was looking for a new apartement a while back, i couldn't get out of work to go the showing of one place, so i asked my dad to check it for me, he's retired and has free time.

so going over what to look for i said "ask if it's like a good calm neighbourhood"
to which his response was "ah, of course. check if there's any arabs there"

The dumbest most racist belief my mom has is she doesn't like Somali people (we lived in MN which has a huge Somali population) because she "doesn't know what they have under those robes". Tried telling her same thing you or I do, they're just trying to stay comfy ffs, they're not hiding an AK

Nah but they do say questionable things about white people sometimes as a joke, and I give them a pass since they grew up in 1960s-1980s Mississippi and had to deal with a lot of shit. My sister has a longtime white boyfriend and I haven't heard any issues on her end about it. The only negative thing I've heard them say about him specifically was that he was a college dropout.

Don't think my mom is. I've never heard her say anything racist, despite all her other awful shortcomings. I also have no idea how badly she's deteriorated so that may have changed.

My mom used to be pretty damn racist towards Somalians. We nearly got 86'd by one who hit our car when I was a kid, he was apologetic until the cops were on their way, then he dipped. After that she nit picked every little thing any Somali did ever, and anytime they were mentioned she'd be complaining about them in some fashion. She's significantly mellowed out since those days though, but I'm sure she's still got her biases.

Whole family is racist. Dads side are the kind of people that yearn for the 1950s, moms side isnt as traditional but still plenty of casual racism.

They were, in the sense that black people were always "colored" to them, but I never heard anything aggressively racist from them.

I suspect that my dad was probably more racist than he let on, but he kept it hidden.

They have their prejudices but I wouldnt say theyre racist in the hateful sense or wish there was less of other races or something

My mom was vocally anti-BLM and absolutely hates people on welfare.

My family on both sides is/was decidedly not racist.
Though my Grandfather on my Italian side always kept a bit of a grudge against Japan....but to be far he served in WWII In Alaska.

My father, who I don't speak with anymore, once told me Obama was happy that the Boston bombings happened because Obama is a 'Muslim terrorist'.

So yeah, safe to assume he's a racist.

My family is fully interracial going back all the way to my grandparents in the 1920s so no.

My dad isn't outright racist, but he has said some questionable things about White people, Mexicans, and Arabs.
My mom definitely isn't.

And yeah, both are Black and were kids during the 60's and 70's, so they may have seen some things.

My dad is extremely racist, and i'd get modded if I even paraphrased some of the things he's said, x.x . My mom is more incidentally racist in the sense that there's no actual malice like my dad has, but she ends up saying or doing racist things without realizing the harm of what was said/done.

My dad used to be pretty racist towards people from the subcontinent.

Very much so.

Aside from using offensive slurs as part of their everyday language, they also spout nonsense like All black people want to be drug dealers and You cant trust the Japanese because theyre slippery little fuckers.

Theyre both dead now, but they werent very nice people.

My dad was the type to throw the "n-word just means a bad person, even white people can be n-word excuse" but he had some pretty colorful terms for children. Don't know if he ever fixed that, don't care if he did because I haven't associated at all for like 15 or so years.

My grandfather on my mother's side is extremely racist to the point that he yells slurs at the TV for certain folks daring to show up in commercials. Yet swears up and down he isn't despite going on about how we "gotta wipe them out before they wipe us out."

My stepdad was sort of. My parents had quite a few black friends, and he enjoyed getting together with them. But just at home with no company he would use the N word alot.

Now my grandfather was a total racist. He ran a motel and would always tell black people the motel was full because he didn't want them there.
