Transform into my final form, toss a death ball and warn him that the planet will explode in five minutes.

I've only beaten him one time. I caught him in a damage loop in which he bounced off of the wall and into my blade.

I was expecting some major game-changing reward for victory, but DW3 treated it just like any other boss encounter victory with no pomp or circumstances.

Actually in ancient China, you weren't allowed to kill generals as a lowly foot soldier, and if you did you got killed, along with your whole "squad". So it was lose, lose.

I juggled him to death once, too. I seem to remember getting his horse as a reward.

Look, if no one admitted it, then anyone near him would be executed, probably tortured through "a thousand cuts". Along with their families, someone would probably admit it so they had a quick death and their family was spared, rather than a slow one.
