i remember as a kid everyone enjoyed chappelle. Every dumbfuck loved him. But nowadays, it seems like you have to have a very high IQ to truly appreciate him, and most of his fans are pretentious fucks

to be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Dave Chappelle.

When you're listening to Dave Chappelle, just remember that he's not like other comedians. His comedy is incredibly artistic, almost to the point where you have to be paying complete attention to him to even remotely understand it. I remember listening to a Joke on The Closer (though I can't remember what it was), where I thought a punchline was absolute bollocks during the listen. Then, I closed my eyes for a second, and all of a sudden the joke had an entirely new meaning. It was insane the way Chappelle could just become something so different when you take a look into the words.

Another thing you should note about Dave is that it's easy to get a headache listening to him. Not because he's a bad comedian, but because of how many ideas his material is riddled with and how complex it is. Soon enough your head will fill to the brim and the rest will just sound like Hannah Gadsby to you. Just turn it off and give it a listen the next day.

Hannah is another standup comedian that was involved in a short little tiff between Netflix and Dave, Netflix CEO was using her as an example of the range of progressive voices on the platform when being attacked over The Closer, she responded by talking shit about him and Dave and finally Chappelle responded to the controversy saying he would sit down and talk with any trans activist they just had to admit Hannah Gadsby is not funny. You don't have to be a bigoted scumbag to enjoy Dave Chappelle, but it helps.

It doesn't work when people say "he's just a Comedian" for the trans stuff because he simultaneously made himself bigger than that while deciding to target that community specifically. If he was doing this on purpose and us truly hayeful towards the teans community, he'd be a genius. If he's not, he's kind of an idiot for not seeing what he did. He made people take him more serious than just being a comedian while progressively targeting a specific community more. Of course people are gonna take it as more than jokes, stupid.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Dave Chappelle. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Dave's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Dave Chappelle truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Dave's existential catchphrase "Oh snap" which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Dave Chappelle tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid
