It's bad enough that only a small selection of pokemon are available to capture, but only a fraction of those are usable. The rest is shit like Dunsparce and Yanma that just goes straight to the box

Yanma would at least be improved the next gen, but yeah there were certainly some shadow Pokemon just not worth the effort.

Though I imagine people have challenged themselves by having a team of the worst shadows.

That's part of why everyone liked it though. The weak roster of underused or otherwise really rare pokemon to help actually let you get all the pokemon in your Gen 3 games, while having a lower power level so all the bosses would be that much more of a threat.

I used a Yanma in my playthrough - it was not worth it.

I found that the game encouraged me to use Pokemon I otherwise would not used. It really endeared me to Forretress and a few others.

The games difficult anyway. because double battles are harder than singles, boss trainers use more strategic play, limited pokemon selection, limited trainers that will rematch you for level grinding, etc etc. just give me something decent enough to use instead of a minun and a shadow dunsparce won't make the game that much easier

The games were for making it possible to get the missing things from gen 2. Blame the people who designed that gen by filling it with utter trash.

The worst bit is they were mailing pieces of the Pokedex back to fans anyway, they had the perfect opportunity to make a new Shadow Pokemon game. The 2 vs 2 format, weird characters and darker vibes were great.
Most of all, we missed our chance to see Miror B again because of this.

I'd like a new pokemon Orre region game too. But if they do also make evolutions for bad gen 1 and 2 pokemon.

Pokmon Colosseum was what Sword/Shield failed to be

a 3D console game that actually properly scaled Wailord

The beginning up until the Mirror B boss fight is the best part of the game. You dont have a lot of flexibility in your mons and cant purify them, so you really have to use what little resources you have and take advantage of a bunch of unconventional mons with oddly specific movesets

It's pretty much like that since all of those pokemon you can't get in ruby/sapphire at the time. Gale of darkness was a lot more flexible since by then emerald and the Kanto remakes where out. Gen 2 did not have a lot of strong standalone Pokemon for it's gen.

Are there any other Pokemon RPGs that'll save you the time and effort and just give you a Hitmontop at an acceptable level like Colosseum does?
The random shadow Vibrava thrown in so you could have a dragon near the end was nice too. God damnit I wanted a shadow Kingdra and I'm still disappointed.
