Was helping load up the semi trailer at the old building. They dont have a very good ramp into the trailer. Im trying to push a hydraulic lift (on wheels), over the ramp and suddenly it feels like a golf ball hits me in the back of the calf

now I cant stand or walk

luckily theyre having an inspection at the new building so no one is allowed to be in it... so we have to just wait until thats over with. So Im basically getting a 3-4 hour break. Time to watch a bunch of TikToks.

Im thinking I definitely should. I just tried to walk to the car to get my headphones and it was a struggle.

Ill give it a bit with my leg raises and not moving and if it doesnt feel better Im going to find out where to go.

My boss has forwarded me to HR, so now Im waiting to hear from them. My leg is hurting more than it was an hour ago. Woo.

The HR manager doesnt come in until later in the day... so now Ive left a message for a second HR person.

I was kind of expecting this to say 3-4 week break. I hope they cover you and you heal up well.

There is absolutely nothing I miss about doing blue-collar work, let alone the time I spent working in a warehouse. Too many new people that have no clue what they're doing because they weren't properly trained and then situations where you've got to work around old and otherwise faulty equipment (the ramp in this case). I imagine all my gripes are 10x worse at this point in time.

Not saying you should milk this, but I'd take my time healing. Last thing you want is to risk reinjury by returning too soon.

Navigating workers comp is a nightmare. Good luck, I hope the company is understanding and doesn't try to screw you. We had an arborist that fell out of a tree here on campus due to a harness issue. He broke his back when he hit the ground. Not paralyzed, but still in bad shape and I was a happy to be surprised that the department did everything they could to make sure he was taken care of properly despite the fall technically being avoidable.

I hope you're getting compensated for these days off and they're not just trying to make you take the days off without pay, or force you to use sick days. You got injured on the job so this is 100% something that the company should cover you for.

My dad actually had that happen... got a golf ball in the back of the calf cuz my cousin did a drive BEHIND him (I just realized he coulda died if that hit his head or back)
