So presumably Mario is still the most recognizable video game character, because I don't think any characters since have had the same level of global pop culture penetration. Sure some brands fade, but Mario has remained Nintendo's mascot the whole time. So while Pikachu is very recognizable (the movies surely don't hurt), I'd still give the edge to Mario. Maybe you could debate Pac-man. However, Mario is recognizable both to zoomers & boomers. Plus with Nintendo getting away from some of more thier more "obscure franchises" such as F-Zero, Star Fox, Donkey Kong, ect, it seems like they spam Mario more than ever. There was a time I feel like you could've been a Nintendo fan and never played a Mario game. Now a days that is not the case. There are hundreds of Pokemon, but only one Mario.
