Several national antiabortion groups and their allies in Republican-led state legislatures are advancing plans to stop people in states where abortion is banned from seeking the procedure elsewhere, according to people involved in the discussions.
The idea has gained momentum in some corners of the antiabortion movement in the days since the Supreme Court struck down its 49-year-old precedent protecting abortion rights nationwide, triggering abortion bans across much of the Southeast and Midwest.
The Thomas More Society, a conservative legal organization, is drafting model legislation for state lawmakers that would allow private citizens to sue anyone who helps a resident of a state that has banned abortion from terminating a pregnancy outside of that state.

As far as I know, there are some laws for a few specific and truly awful crimes. Like if you go rape children in another country where it is still legal. Our government can prosecute you for that when you get back and rightly so.

Yeah thats what I meant, but I thought it was more of an umbrella type law. Like you cant travel with the intent to commit what would be a crime if you were still in your home state. And then whether they choose to enforce it or not depends on the severity of the crime I.e. they wont care about you smoking weed but they would care about you murdering someone.

The freedom in the "free society" that Republicans want is really the freedom to amass individual power, unchecked by any authority, in order to establish their own authority over other people. Once they have authority, they also want the freedom to hurt anyone they consider "below" them in the social hierarchy, which boosts their self-confidence and confirms their dominance in their own minds.

Republicans in a general sense hold ideals that are very in line with Christofascist Patriachal white supremacy, so the hierarchy they are aiming to create is white Christian men at the very top, Christian men of other ethnicities who acknowledge their superiority below them, women to return to the Biblical concept as extensions of their property, and the elimination or enslavement of all other religious groups and LGBTQIAP+ people. That religious extremism has come this far and become so ingrained into the governmental power structures is a complete travesty.

So how will this work?
Will they force every women that leave/enter the state to do a pregnancy test?
Will they prevent pregnant women from leaving the state?

It sounds crazy, but on the other hand, it is the same guys that decided that doctors shall be charged with murder if they wont try to reimplant an ectopic pregnancy into the womens uterus.

If it makes anyone feel better. Brett Kavanaugh, one of the republican justices, has gone on record saying he is against this. And he did this when he didnt need to say anything. I think it would be weird to do that if he didnt stand by it. So I think that means something.

I saw anti-abortion protestors today outside of the soon to open womens health clinic that was already set on fire, and like, Wyoming had trigger laws banning abortion despite our constitution having an article stating: Each competent adult shall have the right to make his or her own health care decisions. It was just confusing that these old saggy fucks even thought it was worthwhile since our state legislature already decided to shit on our constitution.
