Board 8 > How is Star Trek Discovery now?

I know some people werent into the show when it first started, but I also know first seasons of Star Trek shows are usually rough. Im wondering how people generally feel about the show now, now that its a few seasons in? I havent really kept up with it

It's a mixed bag but I think the good outweighs the bad. It has a hard time sticking the landing on the season-long arcs, that's the main flaw for me. The cast is talented enough to keep me invested and, while superficial, I think the high production value is refreshing for a franchise that had looked pretty hokey before this series

Strange New Worlds is quite a bit better so far than Discovery or Picard IMO.

Better than where it was, but I still wouldn't recommend it, especially to old Trek fans. There were parts of the last season I really enjoyed but the ending was terrible and kinda made me angry. It's better than Picard but that's not saying much, Picard is the dirt worst.

Strange New Worlds has been great so far, I'd recommend that wholeheartedly. I like the two animated shows (Lower Decks and Prodigy) but one is a comedy and one is a kids show, so they're a bit different than the standard Trek fare.

The first half-season is okay, the second half-season is good, seasons 2 and 3 are very good. Haven't seen 4 yet, because Netflix UK lost it to Paramout+ which has only just launched here. And they wonder why people pirate stuff.

Yeah Strange New Worlds is my favorite of the new series, and I gotta give credit to Disco for test-running that crew in S2. I don't know if we'd get the full spinoff if they didn't set up Captain Pike so well. His show's been knocking it out of the park so far.

Picard is an incomprehensible mess at this point, unfortunately.

Lower Decks is okay, feels like Family Guy but the cutaway gags are all Trek references which is both lovably dorky and exhaustingly navel-gazey

Prodigy is surprisingly good for being aimed at the youngest demo. I grew up watching Reboot, this show's animation blew my inner child's mind
