yea, that scene had me feeling a lot more negative towards Walt's character.

he let his ego have him abuse his son.

I know he was already a piece of shit drug manufacturer, but there should be limits.

I'm feeling bad for everyone right now. It's clear Walt has realized how intensely he despises his old job

Last night I stopped at the penultimate episode where Walt met Gustavo

It does feel pretty contrived that the 1 hour Walter is given to drop off 38 pounds of meth happens at the same time Skyler goes into labor and Jesse blacks out on heroin for the first time

Yeah Walt making his son drink until he was sick and then trying to rape Skyler were big wtf moments for me.

He was trying to teach his son how to drink like a man so he won't be a wimp who can't hold his booze when he goes to college what's the problem

Walter is a huge piece of shit. Brilliant character.

I feel like a lot of people give him a pass that they don't give gangster rappers. They just assume Walter is a deep character and gangster rappers are pointless. But gangster rappers have depth once you pay attention and actually have far more dire situations that can justify their actions in their stories. Not saying it's justifiable, just more than it is for Walter. Someone already respectfully well-off with far more options

Does it stillcount as a midlife crisis if it's because you gave cancer and feel like you're gonna die way earlier than you set your whole life up for? That seems like the age doesn't really matter. It's just a crisis in general. When I think midlife crisis, I think of a crisis that involves everything around you being the same but you just feel different than you did before because you realize you're locked in with the one life you get. Which seems normal, the realization all the millions of other paths are officially closed.

i think people miss this. Walter was going to do something crazy regardless cancer was an excuse to go big with it. Walter was in midlife crisis mode already he was already Heisenberg he just needed something to bring it all the way out.

I'm not sure that's true but even if it is they had the broad outlines of the story. They got offered a fuckton to do another 6 eps and said no were not fucking this up just for some extra cash.

Can't speak for the poster, but I remember when I watched I was under the impression that Walt was an unstoppable badass. While in the actual show he's a lot more disorganized and clumsy who puts on the "badass" persona as an act to intimidate people.

Can't speak for the poster, but I remember when I watched I was under the impression that Walt was an unstoppable badass. While in the actual show he's a lot more disorganized and clumsy who puts on the "badass" persona as an act to intimidate people.

Those are the Walt fans who thought he was worth cheering for.

He comes on as an asshole or pathetic in his "badass" moments.

And I say this as someone who still rocks an old Heisenberg air freshener.

They shot it in a way to explicitly show you the moment he chose to let her die. Like it's supposed to be very clear, even without words.

The scene explicitly had him stand there pondering for a long while. He had more than enough time to do something but decided it would be better for business and it would take away a distraction of Jesses

an alternate scene was supposed to be Jane vomiting while laying on her side, but Walt turning her onto her back. The writers thought that was too savage

she only rolls on her back and starts to choke on her vomit due to Walt trying to shake the bag of money away.

also, his shock only lasted for a moment; you could see that he believed it was best to let her die.

However she did die quickly and it is ambigious. I think if she had choked for longer, Walt probably would have saved her.

He was weighing up the pros of morality vs the cons (to him) of her surviving and she died. The entire point was that he hesitiated.

How far are you now? S3 E7 is possibly the most intense episode of the show if you haven't gotten to it yet.

Some really great S3 moments all around.

I'm on s2e13 now. Really REALLY powerful acting this episode from Bryan Cranston and John de Lancie. Probably the best episode of the show so far.

I wonder why Gus sells meth when he's powerful enough to consult for the DEA anyway.
