Him and Karen drove up to NY together. Then he just left her there so he could ask Pam on a date.

He also quit the company he started that would have made him a millionaire because his wife didn't want to move out of a shitty ass town.

Loathe as I am to defend Pam, in fairness Jim kind of just decided without consulting her.

I care more about who Im around rather than how much money I make. So, even if he would of gotten it, it stillakes sense to me to stay around people I already like.

Then again, I don't really know the feeling of putting in a shitload of work to not be sufficiently paid for it. That would probably change me some

Id put a connection with a girl over a high paying job as well. If the history was long enough. Not for someone I recently met.

Maybe, but it is crazy to think they would hire an average salesman with no advanced education to be the vice president over someone with an MBA.

Its not always about the money. I turned down a higher paying position because I knew that in the grand scheme of things Id be less happy in that role.

That's what Im saying. These dudes sound like they've been convinced doing anything besides getting the most amount of money makes you a cuck lol. Life is much deeper than going where it pays the most if you're able to break out of that very linear thinking pattern

Well, the leadership of the company making awful decisions is a pretty common theme throughout those seasons

Just the opposite, you have to have sales experience to move up in the world. Simple theories and academic knowledge means little in the real world without the know-how, charm and experience that comes from knowing your consumers, their needs and wants, rather than just reading about some other guy's theories in a textbook.

The funny thing is that turning down the job ended up better for him in the long run because Dunder Mifflin's leadership was a complete shitshow.

You know it's an interesting point. Regardless of how difficult and how excessive the workload is, most people put up with it all. But if the environment around them is what sucks, like who they work with and the people around them, that is usually the dealbreaker.

Seen it several times and experienced it. Even with minimal workload if you're miserable around the people at your job you'd prefer the higher workload with people you work well with. Eg if you're in a place where all your coworkers smoke in the office, you'd feel suffocated and just not comfortable in that environment.
