Let's say the battle against Maul ends pretty much the same with the exception of Qui-Gon dying, instead of dying he just gets a serious injury that he recovers from; Obi-Wan still "kills" Maul.

I think the council would deny Anakin without Qui-Gon's death tbh, I think the only reason they let Obi-Wan train him is because it was their dead friend's dying wish. Qui-Gon would end up leaving the order, training anakin in the ways of the force outside of a rigid system. This would also prevent Dooku from going to the dark side but I think he would still leave the order and join Qui-Gon and Anakin, at least some of the time.

The clone wars would be pretty similar but more drawn out I'm guessing, without having Anakin to tell the story of Darth Plagueis to, the council wouldn't have found out he was a sith and he would have spent more time looking for a new apprentice.

Ultimately, I think Anakin would live up to being the chosen one and bring balance the force if he didn't get corrupted by Palpatine and had a real father figure like Qui-Gon.

It still wouldnt have taken away all the pain he had in him and would receive, and thats what fueled his hatred.

Qui-Gon could have taught him how to actually process it though so it didn't control him, at least potentially, also not having Palpatine insert himself into the father role and slowly corrupt him would be really beneficial

Qui-Gon would just get Anakin stoned and wouldn't care who he was fucking, so everything probably would have been fine.

"But Master Qui-Gon, the rules say that Jedi are forbidden from having loved ones!"

"Ehh, rules schmules Anakin. I do whatever the fuck I want all the time anyway and I'm chill. I mean, the Jedi Council didn't want me training you, and I just noped the fuck out and trained you anyway. Just you be you."

Qui-Gon was basically a bastion of poor writing and characterization.

I'd argue the opposite. Anakin basically IS the Chosen One. And he does bring balance to the Force. The problem is, like most prophecies, no one really understood exactly what that meant.

If Anakin doesn't get corrupted, he wouldn't actually be in a position to fulfill the prophecy. So he wouldn't be the Chosen One. Unless events/plot convenience/The Force contrived to get him back into that position anyway (ie, Qui-Gon eventually dies, Anakin still gets corrupted, etc.).

Hell, depending on how things go, the final fight with Obi-Wan goes differently and Anakin wins, doesn't become Vader, and the confrontation with the Emperor happens in an entirely different way in an entirely different place and time. Or maybe the timeline shifts enough to make Leia the one who eventually gets Jedi training and helps redeem Vader instead of Luke.

If you like that sort of "what if?" style philosophizing, you should track down the Star Wars Infinities comics if you can.

Quig taught Obi-wan everything he knew, theres no reason to think he would have done things differently, he might have even made things worse.
