Remember how in 2016 Dems were warned that SCOTUS picks were up in the air and they chose to stay home because they didn't like Hillary?

Well voting has just as many consequences as not voting.

Stay home? She won the popular vote by 3 million. That isn't staying home.

Nine people who can literally serve until they die on the bench. We really need a change in how this works.

Yep. It is the Darth Jar Jar timeline. People thought Trump was a joke and underestimated the lasting impact of a GOP controlled Supreme Court.

Remember when they shoved in that last nominee before the 2020 election.

Can we expand this to limits on the legislative branch as well so these career politicians that gain power and a large following get cycled out too?

Those Trump fuckwits were pretty loud and clear leading up to the election. They knew SCOTUS picks were gonna be hot, they kept on talking about it. Tons of those people swallowed their pride because they viewed the SCOTUS as more meaningful than Trump's 4 years. Now here we are wondering what happened.

And? People who voted for Trump are still 100% responsible for Trump being elected. Not other voters or non-voters. Stop throwing a tantrum because you didn't get your way.

The system is broken because my candidate lost!
The EC works as intended and keeps elections from being decided just from a few urban epicenters.

In a first-past-the-post system not voting for anyone is just as meaningful as voting for the winner. If you didn't vote for Hillary in 2016 just to cry about the consequences in 2022 then you're as equal to blame as those Trump voters are. Our electoral system isn't new, we've operated this way for years.

Approximately 83% of the US population lives in urban areas. They should be the ones deciding elections.

Didn't Trump only win because most people thought Hillary was a lock and didn't bother to go out to vote? Because he was pretty soundly beaten when people came out in record numbers at the next election.

Just seems to me like absolving non-voters of blame sets up a situation where this exact thing could happen again.

You should be saying to people "Yeah, this is what happens when you don't vote"

Isn't that the whole entire point of an election? Why would I get mad at Trump voters for acting like Trump voters? What does that change? Absolutely nothing.

If you actually went out, swallowed your pride, and voted for Hillary in 2016 then I have no beef with you. That's a person that understood the consequences of their actions and decisions and made an attempt to protect their rights and ideals. I don't have that same sort of respect for the fence sitters. Those people decided to debate the rules of the game in the finals and instead of making any sort of attempt at change decided to take their ball and go home just to whine that they didn't get what they wanted.

If you're one of those people, then what are you so mad about? Did you not realize there were consequences to your inaction? Did you think the Trump voters were joking when they had their eyes set on all of those judicial and SCOTUS picks?
