As a ratio of what the technology at the time provided... probably the original A New Hope or Empire, but Empire was more for set-design rather than effects. The best vignette in the series is the incinerator in Episode 2... and the most impressive effects overall are probably the ones from Rogue One --- "Salt cures Everything!" Adjusted for era? A New Hope. Seeing the Star Destroyer flying overhead in the opening shot was fucking mind-blowing. Not adjusting? Toss-up between Rogue One, The Last Jedi, and... (*sigh*) the Rise of Skywalker (yes, it was a shit movie, but some of the visuals were legitimately fantastic). --- Kill 1 man: You are a murderer. Kill 10 men: You are a monster.
