Honestly don't remember much, but because so much of it was bland or the new characters bad, but at least did the canonical stuff well. Good ending

A little fan-fic-y - all of the melodrama without any of the gravitas.

They did a pretty good job of taking just a couple scenes of Zack from FFVII and turning it into a fully fleshed backstory. It gets pretty silly at times, but it's mostly enjoyable.

Damn. Now I don't feel so bad about not playing this one.

Made Zack and Aeris considerably better characters. End sequence is great. The ridiculous cutscenes are fun on the whole. Genesis is a top tier villain and I don't care what anyone says. Only held back because like, while I can tell you it has good moments and characters and can remember them clearly, the actual overarching plot? Who knows what's going on there-- I'm not saying it's incoherent but how stuff leads into other stuff is pretty unmemorable.

I also thought the gameplay (doesn't factor into the rating obviously) was pretty enjoyable honestly. It's definitely worth playing.

Final Fantasy VII was my favorite game before Elden Ring and I'll be the biggest advocate for anything FF7 related but even I have to agree that Crisis Core has a ton of flaws especially with their original content. The scenes from the original FF7 were really well done though and I can't help but think Aerith from CC laid the groundwork for her character in the remake which is one of the strongest parts of that game.
