What if weve already passed the point of no return are all pretty much doomed but the powers that be keep it quiet so as to not cause a panic?

Maybe thats why we are also seeing an entrepreneurial space race those are the ones that arent quietly accepting their/our demise.

It's kinda crazy that this planet has been around for billions of years and it only took humans less than 500 years of pollution to kill it

But, here's the good news. It's extremely likely that warming will be limited to between 1.5C and 2C, and it's likely we can bring that down further.

I don't think global warming would kill off humanity, it will fuck us up and probably destroy society but I imagine we'll devolve back into small tribes, humans are ridiculously adaptable

Oh dear lord.

We could lose all atmosphere on this planet and humanity would survive and eventually expand to other planets.

Other than the sun expanding, or a huge meteor hitting our planet and splitting it in half, humanity will survive almost anything at this point due to technology.

The only thing keeping us from colonizing mars is the distance to get there, we have everything we need to eventually make the planet support life.

If it gets to hot we will have to live under the water or under the ground, or in sealed domes that protect us from the heat and let us grow plants etc. Yes, most people will die off and pretty much all natural land/animals will go poof, but humanity is here to stay.

Theres also the space junk problem The longer we wait, the more space junk that collects, which makes it harder to leave Earth. Scientist have been working on a way to get rid of it But if we dont, the space junk will be problem for anyone wanting to leave Earth

Space junk could actually be used to help us expand if we ever set up a real space station that orbits the earth. All that junk is just material you don't need to send up into orbit to use, although collecting it is going to require some resources/time.

It would be better to just send material up. The space junk can be used for patch work. But you should use it to build anything. But the problem is that the space junk will eventually get in the way or us getting into space in the first place. That's the problem. Space junk makes it dangerous for us to send anything or anyone up there in the first place. Getting the junk also isn't easy. Satellites travel at about 17,000 miles per hour. So catching it can be difficult. I watched a video about space junk. And they mentioned that scietist were working on a way to get rid of it. A net, a harpoon on a tether, magnets, and lasers are some of the working theories...

You do know that a piece of space junk the size of a pencil eraser can completely destroy the space station while traveling at speed right? How would you collect something in that environment?

Then it makes no sense to continue to regulate the causes of it. If we're already doomed then let people be doomed in comfort.

There's no panic if no one believes them about it. And they've been wrong so many times. I'm surprised anyone still does.

No. Outside of some sort of sci-fi level intervention, due to the increasing brightness of the Sun the Earth is going to be transformed into an inhospitable wasteland comparable to present day Venus in some 1-4 billion years from now.

We passed the carbon threshold over a decade ago and the North Atlantic pump is shutting down as evidenced by the current condition of the Northern Jet Stream, just as Al Gore said it would. It got 30 seconds in the C block on the news and hasn't been mentioned since.

The powerful and affluent are hoping to hold out long enough that a significant portion of the population is wiped out while the planet adjusts.

probably you're joking but that billions of years includes the planet being a volcanic barren rock, some ice ages, and some cases of way worse global heating than we have now. we have just modified the climate a tiny bit in one direction relative to what we're used to. we probably won't "kill" the planet this way, though we might make it a lot less hospitable to us specifically.
