If you're a savvy conservative you know that this is going to fire up the other side that was COMPLETELY apathetic going into mid-terms. It's an absolute brain-dead move by an absolute brain-dead group of people who are governing based off their sky daddy brainworms.

The only right wingers who wanted this are also brain-dead and addled with sky daddy brainworms.

Youre sure giving Dem organizing and turnout a lot of credit.

The only thing that fires up Dems enough to Pokmon Go to the polls is to anti-vote Trump

Right wingers absolutely wanted this.
I remember seeing it broken down by percentage by state back when the leak initially came out and even red states were in favor of Roe v. Wade.

Of course the right wing politicians wanted it, but I don't think the population wanted it. I don't know if it's a deal breaker for right wing voters come election time (doubtful).

It's weird how you always defend Republicans and attack Democrats. It definitely feels like gaslighting at this point. The choice is still between people who actively want to take our rights away, and people who don't. The Democrats worst crime is being ineffective. The Republicans have done FAR worse and will continue to do far worse. Our choices aren't much, but they're the only choices we're given. Until the Republican Party ceases to exist, I will vote Democrat. I'll take ineffective over evil 10 times out of 10. I'll 100% take the people who aren't doing enough over the people who are making things worse.

I mean it's basically:

"The Republicans didn't mean to hurt you baby. They didn't want to do it! They had to. And the Democrats let them do it. They're the ones really at fault here."

I wouldnt consider what Biscuit is doing defending Republicans at all.

I disagree with him that just saying shit gets Dems elected, but it IS all it takes for them to get Lib votes.

And them just saying shit and not doing is why theyre about to get historically blown out (barring an alternative where the Supreme Court and next Congress take away so many fundamental rights that Dems wake up and actually do shit).

I wouldnt even say its a Republican thing at all. Their voters have been conditioned to believe that literally anything the Dems do is evil, and therefore its their moral imperative to turn out and vote Republican no matter what. They GOP does not need to promise anything or improve peoples lives, because their voters believe that the Dems will make things worse.

Meanwhile, Dem voters across the spectrum see things like the GOP successfully killing Roe v. Wade, or the Dont Say Gay bill, and they get outraged before stating loud and proud that gas prices are too high and the person in charge (regardless of party) needs to be punished at the polls for their ineffectiveness at fixing the problem. Never mind that taking support away from the party in power makes it harder for them to accomplish anything and youre effectively creating a self-fulfilling prophecy of governmental impotence, nope, you get exactly two years (at best) to fix problems before were going to immediately hamstring you and then blame you for getting nothing done.

It's because I have no expectations for Republicans to do any right things and Democrats are our only hope and also can't do a fucking thing right.

I can continue to attack Republicans but what's the point? They are expected to be fucking evil. I'll attack Democrats because they are the only ones who can do anything not evil right now and don't.

I was EXTREMELY vocal about Biden in the presidential election about how he gave absolutely no solutions or tangible explanations for what he wanted to do. I said he would be dog shit from the start and a horrible candidate and wouldn't do anything for the Democratic party, and it's been far worse than I can imagine because there is no fucking vision from this asshole.

You cannot tell me I was wrong. I'm sorry for having standards for the Democratic party. But don't come at me with this "Oh you're just gaslighting!" Biden made blanket promises with no solutions and we're staring at the results of them now. He sucks and it's the best our party has right now.

The only gaslighting is from Democrats like Manchin going "Oh I can't believe this! I voted against codifying it because I thought they would uphold it!" Or Nancy Pelosi going "Guys, just give us more money and we'll be able to take the fight back!"

But no let me keep saying "Republicans are evil" as if that's not obvious to everyone here already.

It's pretty hard to blame Biden when his deciding vote is from a +30 R state and he's dealing with a SC (and judiciary in general) that strikes down his EO pretty easily (like the vaccine and mask mandates).

It's fun to scream "DO SOMETHING" but his two best tools to accomplish that are pretty much useless in this current climate.

Give us a plan. Hes saying abortion rights are on the ballotlay out an explanation of how that is the case! Outline a plan to codify Roe, explain exactly how you plan to do that and who is currently on board, and explain who else we need to elect to accomplish it. Stop being vague. The devil is in the details.

I know transparency is a politicians second biggest fear after accountability, and I know he has me over a barrel where I have to vote for him anyway because of the explicit human rights danger of a Trump or DeSantis, but Id feel a lot better about it if I thought they actually had a plan to govern if they had the right people in place

He's an impotent dope and people don't want to keep hearing "This is terrible, but if you vote we can fix it" because nobody fucking believes that because nobody is working hard enough to make us believe that.

I also believe Biden and other Dem leaders should be making Manchin and Sinema's lives an absolute hell. Just nonstop harassment and threats to tank their future as politicians. Do whatever they have to in order to make them play ball, because if they're not going to work with the Democratic party to uphold basic human rights then fuck them, they can't be trusted to work in line with them about anything else.

While I think AOC is right, to offer a defense to Biden here: He basically has to say that because "moderates" freak the fuck out if he says anything else. It's an infuriating double standard because they don't seem to blink at the right when they talk about "2nd Amendment remedies" or, seemingly, attempt an insurrection.

As for Manchin and Sinema. There's basically zero leverage anyone has on Manchin. He's the only Dem who can hold that seat so forcing him out just makes it a Republican seat and puts McConnell back in control. Hell, he can counter threaten to switch parties to do that himself. And Sinema seems like her own special brand of insane. She's going to get primary'd out of her seat but just doesn't appear to care whatsoever. Former aides to her have described her as someone who thinks she's the smartest person in whatever room she walks into and she just ignores any calling out. Hell, Biden did call them out months ago and nothing happened.

He, and Dem leadership, have to do more but those specifically seem like dead ends to me.

Well, instead of him retiring to make room for Ketanji Brown Jackson, we'd be looking at Stephen Breyer dying and getting replaced by another Republican justice to make it 7-2 instead of 6-3, since Mitch has learned he can just hold a seat open indefinitely when the GOP has control of the Senate. And the same goes for all lesser courts as well. It's paying dividends for him now.
