Kino's Journey (2017) was poorly received even by a lot of people that like the original series if I'm remembering correctly.

As far as dark edgy shows go I'm a huge fan of Shiki, though I'm not sure where or if it's available for streaming right now. (It was a Funimation show but it looks like they no longer have it)

If you haven't seen Black Lagoon that's definitely an option.

Black Lagoon is my second favorite anime

Shiki is good (art takes some getting used to), as is Black Lagoon. In the vein of Black Lagoon, I also recommend Jormungand.

I went to look into buying Re:Creators just now and Jeff Bezos is still holding it hostage.

Healing/slice of life/relaxing. Stuff like Aria, Sketchbook, Laid Back Camp, Flying Witch, etc.

Thankfully it's all on Crunchy now. It used to be NOTHING forever but it got added to Crush, whatever the hell that is. Crunchy only recently nabbed it.

a lot of people are saying these early spoilers aren't reputable / confirmed by the usual sources yet. So take that with a grain of salt for now, although I think it's likely to be true regardless.

There's something else about the spoilers that is making me doubt them

I was reading through the reddit topic seems like most people are accepting it as legit

I actually think that seems somewhat reasonable. Law and Luffy got the same bounty after Dressrosa for their combined efforts to defeat Doflamingo. And it's not as though the people who set the bounties within the world of One Piece know the exact specifics of what went down in the fights.

Yeah that one is kinda puzzling so we'll have to see

I went to Netflix to finally start the new season of Komi, but I wound up starting a random anime I found instead, High-Rise Invasion. For something with as much random murder, panty shots, and even a sexual assault all very early on, I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying it. Granted I'm only three episodes in so there's still a chance it falls apart. It just has such a solid premise. People are trapped in a city of endless skyscrapers that are connected by rope bridges, and inhuman masked murderers are trying to kill them. I love high concept ideas like that, and all the edgy stuff I usually wouldn't like sets a fun tone here.

I'm a big fan of the SCP Foundation, and I feel like this premise would be right at home there. Plenty of those involved someone wandering into a place where nothing makes sense and they're being hunted, evoking the terror and confusion of a bad nightmare. In particular I'm reminded of one of my favorite SCPs, the one where people are trapped in an endless IKEA and monstrous staff try to kill them at night. I love stories like that, so even if High-Rise Invasion has the occasional flaw, I'm happy to be along for the ride!

Although I was personally very disappointed with the way they tried to adapt it. :(

Keijo was an amazing premise that didn't even have the courtesy to have good character design.

Not as bad as good character designs in bad shows but man, what a waste.

green bull has the plant-plant fruit and absorbs nutrients (?) from king and queen. Luffy law and kid all have 3 bil bounties. The old man living with Tama is actually Odens father and he speaks with Robin about the ancient weapon Pluton being in Wano!!!

and of course, Yonko Buggy and Yonko Luffy. Which truly prepares us for Shanks Piece. The 4 Emperors are Shanks, his oldest friend Buggy, his protege/the man he bet on, Luffy, and the man who injured his eye, Blackbeard.

I hadn't heard of it, but the premise sounds neat! Quite a few reviews warn that the anime is a bad adaptation, but I wonder if it's one of those "it's bad because it isn't following the source material" ones or if it's jusy genuinely bad

I was looking forward to Otherside Picnic a LOT, even bought the first volume of the LN ahead of time, but dropped about 5 episodes in. Bad pacing and low budget.

First episode is good but it's a trap.

And while I own the LN I haven't read it, so not sure about the adaptation comparison.

They wanted the season to conclude on a particular part, so they moved it to the end. Didn't ruin my enjoyment of the series, but it's kind of jarring.

Well, you should still read the LN, it's extremely good. I struggle to pick between it and Bookworm. But do skip the anime.

Speaking of Bookworm, it's kind of amazing how little it seems to deviate in quality. Never getting "better," never getting "worse." It does a few different things here and there (with a shit ton of timeskips for some reason), but 30 eps in, it's just pleasant and nice to watch. It's probably because Myne's always one scene away from continuing on with whatever stupid book making plan she has, regardless of all the shit the world keeps throwing at her. It's kinda like a lesser Spice and Wolf. It's intriguing without being ABOUT anything, or maybe the pacing is just fast enough to be absorbing, but not slow enough to be outright fucking boring.

I sure hope I'm wrong to do so. I get being in on the joke, but it's so fucking direct, it's almost a gag reflex how "meta" it's trying to be. For a show that is super popular, the writing sure seems super fucking dumb, even by isekai standards. I'm shocked the guy didn't stare at the viewer shrugging his shoulders.

Edit: The more the episode goes on, the less I'm hating it. I'm still waiting for the dope to stop the full on meta shit and then maybe I'll like this more.

I feel like ReZero started with a lot of meta awareness (like he expected a strong power and a beautiful woman and such) but it eventually became less. I don't remember it super well though, I need to rewatch S1 at some point before I start S2.

AHHHH I wish you hadn't spoiled some of it for yourself. Subaru constant evolution as a character is one of the show's best features. Hopefully you didn't spoil too much.

Well, first episode, he's a shitty Kazuma, and the show's IN on the joke, as is the writing. That's what annoying me so far.

This show is not a comedy, I mean there's plenty of jokes here and there but it's basically the polar opposite of Konosuba.

I can see why you may think of Kazuma at the beginning but definitely not.

I would strongly advise 3 episodes to see how you feel. 2 episodes will give you a good idea but episode 3 is the end of the opening story and the real turning point of the series and where it's going.

The deathloop thing and Subaru's reactions to it all is the thread that is keeping me from shelving it already. The more and more he turns the corner, the better I'm liking it.

It was interesting and it looked great but I still hesitate to say I liked S1 of rezero. Gonna still watch 2 one day because there's so much intrigue but I thought the intense drama was a little awkward sometimes.
