Id be shocked if we got anything from shanks that wasnt set in romance dawn times. I dont think theres a single chance that were seeing luffy and shanks meet again in present day for the first time in a movie

Aw nuts, Birdie Wing revealed to only have 13 episodes. It really felt like it was gearing up for another cour at least. It went from my least favorite of the season to my third favorite so far. It was good the whole time, I just expected it would mess up and get too melodramatic at some point. It's impressive how consistently enjoyable BW has been, everything from mafia golf nonsense to minigolf has been great.

The mafia stuff soured me on the series, and I haven't watched the last few episodes. It sounds like it has become what I wanted the series to be, but I'm just gonna wait to see how it ends before picking it back up.

I've watched almost all of them. Definitely a few bad shows on there (like Fena), yeah. Some good stuff tho.

Fena was one that caught my eye (probably good feelings from Snow White right next to it transferring over). Sad to hear it isn't great

From what I hear the issue with Fena is that it has one if the worst sets of ending episodes ever. People were pretty high on it up until that.

It got bad a lot sooner than that but the finale is an all-time stinker, yes. I feel like people were mostly high on it for the concept. The first episode was the best one, and it went downhill really fast (unless all you care about is good animation).

I dropped Fena after the second episode. Whenever I hear it actually gets worse as it goes on, I'm just surprised people still had hope that it would turn out good. Everything but the art/animation was a mess.

Yeah, I've seen some Dragonaball Super Hero spoilers, and it seems like that movie is gonna be great, especially if you're a Gohan/Piccolo fan.

It's a bit more than just will, it's a full chosen identity. Yamato was a woman who idolized a man so much she decided to become him, at which point Yamato began identifying as a man.

I wanted to watch something off that big genre/setting chart I linked earlier. After quite a bit of searching, I found something that both looked neat and was actually available for streaming. I didn't have time to finish it since I need to go to sleep early today. I'm not even sure why I'm posting this, except that it has been so good that I need to say something about it to someone.

Akudama Drive, as of episode five, has been amazing. Like, legit zero complaints 10/10 amazing. Now I just hope it can hold on for seven more episodes!

I started reading chainsaw man and I am 15 chapters in and I really am enjoying it so far. It has a good mix of violence with a main character who is 'stupid' but in a likable sort of way. This one was on my list because someone nominated the boss lady for a project of mine and oh boy I can see why she would be popular, lady has a personality on her.

I finished Akudama Drive. I liked the first half more than the second, but it was still awesome the whole way through! Everything about it was over-the-top in the best way possible. Even the parts that were bloody or dark were a lot of fun because everything was so stylized and crazy, especially the frequent amazing action scenes. Stuff that would usually bother me felt justified in this style-over-substance cyberpunk setting they created. The major characters were all memorable and filled their roles in the story excellently. Like I have no complaints about anyone, everything from their archetypes to their motivations to their arcs, it was all handled so well. The standout for me was Swindler, I liked how her situation provided a unique dynamic and she played off of the elite akudama really well.

The voice actress for Swindler was the same as Misaki in BanG Dream, and that provided an extra layer for me. For the 99% of you who don't know BanG Dream, Misaki is the straight man in a band with three super energetic girls who always drag her along on their misadventures. Akudama Drive felt like 'what if Misaki was dragged along by a bunch of zany criminals instead' and that's great. That bit of meta knowledge made me laugh more than once when she was trying to rein in the crazies.

This became the newest entry not just in my top ten, but in my top five anime ever! It's always great to find a new 10/10 because they sure don't come along very often. I need to try and find more stuff like this.

Always love to see Akudama Drive getting its props. The ending is something else, too.

Just be wary if you ask people what's similar they may try to guide you towards the Danganronpa animes due to Kodaka, and...yeah don't watch those.

That new Danganronpa but baseball anime also sucked...

I tried playing the first Danganronpa a few months ago but I lost a trial right near the end because I didn't understand the minigame and I didn't want to do it again. I'd probably want to go back to that before I watched any anime of it anyway

Have fun! My favorite weekly shonen jump series, almost without any condition. 97 chapters just a little too short for me to dethrone one piece and hunter x hunter yet

Oh I missed that post. Yeah Chainsaw Man is one of my all time favorite manga, its absurd popularity is well deserved. It already has as much attention as most big name anime, and when the anime comes out it's going to absolutely explode.

Can't wait for part 2 to start.

Trying to find a new show on Crunchyroll. Happened up ln something called Platinum End. Might take another episode or two to understand, but that angel practically justifying murder and theft with some fucked up logic is sort of intriguing. Could be interesting, though the end of the episode played at some "death game" hand that doesn't seem as fun as the "despondent loser goes on murder spree with angel's weapons" could be.

I'll see where this goes later. Reading up on it, apparently the guy who wrote Death Note made this. Now things are starting to make a bit more sense.

I would highly suggest....NOT. It is a huge swing and a miss if a series.

Also, specifically in regards to the anime, the production quality goes down the shitter and never recovers.

While I don't think it's very good in general, if you did wish to proceed I would absolutely dive into the manga instead.

MAL did list it as a 6...that wasn't a good sign, since 7 is the usual "decent" threshold. Then again, this thing was competing with Nagatoro as the other thing I stumbled upon. I wasn't seeing much good in that one.

I'd certainly take Nagatoro over Platinum End, and I'm not even a big Nagatoro fan.

May be time to roll that randomizer a few more times, lol. I wish the app version of the site had that.

I can't say the few times that I've used it its ever landed a winner.

I don't know what you're past watch list is like, so it's hard to just start naming shows to check out.

If you got a genre to hit I could throw out some recs, see if any of them haven't hit your radar!

Finished Chainsaw Man and I am like, super happy I binged it because some of the chapters later on felt very badly paced. But overall I really enjoyed it and the ending of season 1 was... heh heh heh... chef's kiss.

8/10 for me I think

My preferred genres right now are

Isekai (Shield Hero/Konosuba)
Darker/Edgier/Slightly Unnerving (Kino's Journey/Any Crime/Death Stuff)
Iyashikei (Senko-san; I was considering rewatching it)

Just gonna throw a few out.

Isekai - Re:Creators, actually a reverse Isekai, is an underwatched gem, absolutely love it, can't recommend it enough. Re:Zero, no relation, I'm sure you've heard of or already seen, and it's popularity is well deserved. On a similar note, Jobless Reincarnation has a ROUGH start but it becomes truly excellent on e it gets rolling. For a comedy Isekai, The Devil is a Part Timer is excellent and has a new season coming out after almost a decade. And finally, Twelve Kingdoms is an older series and a much heavier focus on being an epic fantasy, I haven't watched it in a long time but it's always going to stick with me.

Darker/Edgier/Slightly Unnerving - This is a little broad so it's hard to nail down. Dorohedoro is a great dark comedy. If you want something uncomfortable, Serial Experiment Lain and Boogiepop Phantom older unnerving shows. If you want edgy action, there's always Darker than Black, just season 1 though. Same deal with Psycho Pass on both fronts, but this is a much better series I think. There are some popular series in this genre that I think are terrible, like Akame ga Kill, but I know some people like it.

Iyashikei - This is not my genre, but I can say without a doubt that the one I recommend the most from my experience is Barakamon.

12 kingdoms was so ahead of its time and devoid of any of the bullshit I forget its an Isekai. Second that one 100%. One of a handful of anime I give a 10/10

Joins One Piece and 1997 Hunter x Hunter as one of three anime I picked up because of an AMV, lol. Absolutely set a standard for fantasy anime that was incredibly tough to meet.

I do actually own it all on bluray, just haven't rewatched it yet.

Seen Darker, Psycho, but never finished 12 Kingdoms. Might try Re:Creators or Zero.

I had some significant problems with Re:Creators but if you want a dark reverse-isekai it certainly fits. Strife also listed Kino's Journey as an example of what he liked, and I thought Kino's Journey (the 2017 version at least) sucked. Me having problems with Re:Creators might be a good sign that you'll like it!
