Quit hero was a mediocre show with a nice twist near the end. The ending was expected and ok I guess. I kind of hope it doesn't get a season 2 because all the characters finished their arcs and theres really nothing that should stand in their way.

Which Quit Hero? Because the Chinese webtoon had an anime that came out recently, didn't it?

I talked about Hero? I Quit that a Long Time Ago a bunch in the past. I guess some of the anime is out, but the stupid thing doesn't even have a wikipedia page so I'm going to have to dig around to see if it's still ongoing or what.

The manhau is ridiculously long. Basically the story picks up after the world's strongest superhero -- a youth who, after his parents are killed by monsters at a time when superheroes don't exist, sold his soul to gain powers -- saves the world from monsters, massacres the merfolk kingdom, and ultimately retires in frustration and disgust when the world government imposes regulations on superheroes, which effectively makes him an outlaw for refusing to register.

Parts of the premise are similar to One Punch Man, although the protagonist's alter-ego is already very well-established, but he hides it because of the baggage the name carries... and then his true identity, after engaging in an act of heroism because some d-list heroes screw something up, is arm-twisted into super-heroics which he pursues under a new identity (kinda?). So he mostly hides his power (because he often has to use his old alter-ego's weapons and techniques) despite the fact he can one-shot just about everything. (And he's also embarrassed by his previous alter-ego's hero design, name, etc, thinking it was juvenile.)

But a lot of the premises are zanier than OPM, including a story arc where he becomes a teacher, an alternate future story arc, etc.

Finished Heroines run the Show and Wage Slave-san.
I think I will have to change my anime of the season to Wage Slave-san, as it's very rare for an anime to speak to me in the same way that it did. I could relate to Fushihara in basically every episode of the anime, and it provides realistic escapism scenario. Love Live can win anime of the season some other time (next season most likely). Wage Slave-san definitely goes into my top 5 anime of all time.

Skeleton knight's season ended today. It was pretty much exactly what I hoped for. A very basic overpowered protagonist isekai story. The characters were light hearted and fun, the villains were basic and cartoonishly evil and thus boring, and the world was mildly interesting. Sounds kind of like I'm criticizing it but it was honestly fun every week. Not even really a guilty pleasure, just solid but basic.

Next week is going to be so long and empty while I wait for monster hunter to release. Unrelated but it's like 95 degrees outside and our AC broke and I can't sweat cause of my health condition and this is misery. Fortunately I found a fairly powerful fan but man, I did not appreciate the value of sweating when i was healthy. That shit is saving your life.

Damn, love is war really ended with a bang. This season of it is top tier for romantic comedy. In fact, I'd say it's the peak, there is no better romantic comedy in anime. I'm sad it's over. I wonder if there will be another season. I hope there will be. I could watch these lovable idiots for hundreds of episodes. Anime of the season for me.

Started to watch Record of the Grancrest War since NF menitoned it was leaving at the end of the month. Dub is lousy, but I have a feeling the story is even worse. Think I'm going to try Godeater or Godslayer or whatever the other one leaving is.

On a somewhat cheerier note, I wound up watching some Hero? I Quit that a Long Time Ago. The scanlation is just awful, but so far the adaptation doesn't feel terrible -- or, at least, not that far removed from the source material. Although that isn't necessarily a good thing since the beginning for the webtoon was confusing

Definitely neat seeing it animated. When the hero association chairwoman was intro'd, I was kinda confused since -- although I remember her playing a major part in the early arcs -- I don't remember the character being that cute. Of course, she all but vanishes from the storyline a few arcs in

So, why is shield hero s2 rated so poorly? Is it like Promised Neverland s2, where they goofed up the story for whatever reason, or did people just not like the direction the story took?

If it covers the part of the story I think it does, I imagine it's based purely on content. I haven't seen it yet and, honestly, I'm not all that interested in seeing the shit involving the book hero, etc.

It's a double whammy. The part of the story where they fight the big ass turtle is super boring but also vital to the plot. The production just tried to speed through it as quickly as possible (which still took like 6 episodes) so they somewhat butchered that part that was already bad. In the 2nd half of this season, it's definitely better, but not nearly as good as the first season.

The show's main hook was how this guy overcomes the adversity by resorting to brutal or awful tactics, but he basically solved that problem before the first season even ended.

Season 2 also has one of the most lame villains I've ever seen and the way he is defeated is pathetic. Like, dude had no plan.

Now the show faces a new issue. All the villains have been dealt with, either by joining forces with some or by killing others so at this point all thats really left is the mystery with the waves and probably monster of the week bullshit.

Finished Hero? (which I guess is also called Hero's Return now? Way shorter). Season concluded at a meh point, but kinda figured that'd be the end point since it was portrayed as being a bigger battle... despite, you know, this basically being OPM but with fewer comedy beats and the MC uses weapons... which/who turn into girls.

Fell behind a few days but finally caught up on current anime. Only birdie wing and shield hero remain of the one cour shows I'm watching.

Decided to check out the first of the 3 episodes that aired in advance of the rwby anime that shaft did. I feel mixed, kinda think I like the original better. The music was almost annoyingly unexciting during 2 of the 3 action scenes they showed and the choreography is only ok but there were a few stunning moments of animation.

Also jarring to hear them with different voices than I'm used to.

Birdie Wing finished up and jumped up like half a point on MAL practically overnight. i'm glad, it deserves a solid rating.

This show also crossed into slightly more than yuribait.

I'm impressed how well the show has straddled the line of ridiculous to plausible. It's over the top, but never too much, at least for me, and I feel like I'm a lot stricter on that than most. It makes the crazy things feel that much more crazy. Like you'll know what I mean if you watch it, but "the arm" scene actually blew my mind. I didn't see that coming in a million years. I can't think of a time I've been more surprised.

The main 2 girls are very cute together too.

Also new monster hunter expansion releases in less than 24 hours. Time has slowed to a crawl while I wait. I feel like my life is paused until midnight EST.

Picked up the FFVII remake for $5 at Wal-Mart. The other week I'd got a bunch of other games on the cheap (can't remember if I mentioned them here, but nothing was related to Asia iirc), partly because I'd noticed some empty spots in the ps4 display where there were $5 tags.

I lucked out, finding it on a generic shelf with the old price tag on it, otherwise it'd likely have been bought. (However, given it's a popular title, I probably could've got it on the cheap in the future anyway.)

Not sure when I'll actually play it, but kinda looking forward to it at some point.

My anime season has finally ended with rising of the shield hero. What an odd last episode. It really feels like an OVA collection of side stories and it makes no sense to end a season on this.

Come to think of it, birdie wing also ended really oddly. It had a next episode preview and everything as if there would just be another episode next week. It wasn't at a particularly good stopping point either.

Feels like anime just end whenever they hell they want. Although the last episode of love is war this season was a very climactic and amazing season finale.

EDIT: Oh wait I lied, the season doesn't end until demon girl next door 2 ends tomorrow. I forgot it got delayed 1 week earlier in the season.

Even worse with manga, although I think part of that is maybe cancellations factoring in. The ending of Slave Go! still pisses me off.

I realized that for the first time since the pandemic began I truly am maxed out on my free time. Almost maxed on Runescape (relatively speaking, I have 18 99s), and remembered to catch up on Cuckoos this week. Very interesting twist with the picture at the end of the episode. Also downloaded the rest of Deaimon in the hopes I can watch a couple of episodes tonight because the Red Sox are off while trying to get 99 Firemaking.

Eventually after I max in Runescape I might have time to play other games again, but this will fulfill onen of my childhood goals I never bothered to accomplish despite that accomplishment not being all too special anymore.

I was so close. I thought I had another weekend to catch up. 2 episodes of Deaimon left (and a few manga chapters). Really like this anime. Very rare to have a protagonist in his 30s.

Woohoo, I finally beat Xenoblade Chronicles. Not sure what I'm playing next on my Switch. Mostly caught up with spring anime that I wanted to watch, except for Kaguya s3 and Shield Hero s2. Watched the first ep of Shield Hero s2. I think Skeleton Knight was my favorite show of the season so far. Otome game was better than expected and the op for it was good.

Shokei Shoujo and Yuusha Yamemasu, were meh. Komi s2 was solid and Spy x Family was quite nice and I hope we get more.

less than a month till xenoblade 3, so if you spend every waking moment on it, you might beat xenoblade 2 before then!

How are you finding these? Do you know Japanese or are you using the machine translated subs? Komi-san S2 did not have an official English sub and no sub group picked it up.

Probably best to take a break before 2 anyways, 2 is long as hell. Especially if you try to collect all the blades, level up a decent selection of them, and tip your toes in endgame shenanigans. I have 200+ hours in the game and I'm nowhere near done... though I will admit most of that time has been in short bursts after I beat the game 60~ hours in. There's just so damn much you can do.

Man I watched the first season of Rent a Girlfriend in the first(?) season back watching seasonal anime, and compared to two years ago Kazuya shows himself as a completely different character now that I better understand the culture. Guy is willing to give everything to make Chizuru happy. There is no reality where any other girl is a good match for Kazuya. The end of that episode was fantastic especially with the use of Centimeter during his big monologue.

I've also finished up Deaimon. The ending feels a bit limp because the viewer has to make the assumption Nagomu's senpai and Itsuka's father are the same person. Although that's telegraphed as early as the first couple of episodes.

ive watched up to about ep 4-6 and i dont think i got that gist

regardless whenever i decide to binge the rest of deiaimon im GONNA look up LN/manga/w/e spoilers because i want to know more about the dad

The manga's scanlation isn't very far. I don't know much about the LN but I'm interested as well.

Started watching Brotherhood again. Still annoys me how they butchered Rose for no reason. One of a bunch of little things (and a handful of big things) that make me prefer FMA 2003 over manga/Brotherhood.

Decided to start on Fire Emblem. Haven't actually started it yet, but it's what I'll be playing next. Last Fire Emblem I played is the one on Gamecube. Set it to casual, as I realized I was going to reload saves anyway if I lost anyone, so this just saves me some hassle tbh.

Also, rewatching Reincarnated as a Slime. It's my favorite isekai, closely followed by Mushoku Tensei. Reincarnated as a Spider is good too. I've enjoyed a lot of isekai, but those are my favorites.

Been thinking and thinking about it, but I'm not sure I have a favorite isekai... although I liked what I saw of Overlord. And I had liked early Inuyasha. And there was a manga series I liked about a guy being reborn with superhuman fighting abilities when he just wanted to be a mage... but I can't remember what it was called and the scanlators gave up on the series when it started to get weird.

There were a lot of things I preferred in FMA 2003. While I don't think FMA 2003 was great, at least I was able to get into that whereas Brotherhood didn't really do it for me (although partly because I saw 2003)

I can't remember if she had darker skin in the manga. I don't know if there's any colored art of her. But it was a major trait of her in the original series which was world famous, which makes such a stark transition even more jarring.

Not gonna watch the trailer, but hyped none the less.

As far as the FMA series debate goes, I find Brotherhood to be the better experience overall, but 03 had better character development for some of the characters. Brotherhood went over a lot of the early stuff quite fast, so some of the characters didn't get the same amount of time and you won't care for them as much. Hughes and Nina being the obvious standouts.

People still debate FMA (2003) versus FMA Brotherhood.

Surprised no one debates HXH (1998) versus HXH (2011).

At least old HxH starts off right. No idea to this day, why they decided to change the beginning of the reboot series.
