I'm friends with my high school ex (we lasted til our early 20s) it's been platonic between us for a decade and I went to her wedding last year and we still hang out every now and then. I've still had girls get jealous and it's just weird to me because we're not touchy feely or do anything resembling flirting with each other

I've said to girls I think it's unfair to expect me to cut people out of my life who are already part of it before I met them, it's had mixed results

i mean, i wouldnt date someone who's incredibly jealous. So if i'm married and my wife asked me i would assume it's for a reason. If it was multiple times or someone like my mom or sister then it would be a serious red flag.

I just personally wouldnt be in a relationship with someone who would make me stop talking to my female friends

When you love somebody enough to marry them, it means making compromises (and sometimes sacrifices) to make that person feel loved and appreciated. That's kind of what marriage is supposed to mean--your wife (or husband) should be your first priority. They're counting on you for love and support. You don't have to roll over and do everything she asks, but when it comes to things like emotional security, jealousy, and doubts, it's probably a good idea to hear them out.

Ive only pulled this on my wife when a dude was trying to take her to the movies. It seemed too much like a date. I said fuck that.

Taking aside the fact I wouldn't have married someone that controlling/insecure, I'd probably just laugh.

Shes a little naive here but he seemed to only want to go with her. Shes friendly to a fault and understood my objection. Especially if i did the same and took a girl out to the movies without her.

Ironically i accidentally yelled about it on front of her mom and her mom said that my wifes father (dead) was very flirty with girls and shed have to yell at him to tone it down here and there so she took my side and just told me to calm down and explained it to my wife.

Yeah that was literally a guy trying to take advantage of her kindness. You did your duty to keep her safe and she agreeing with you is her seeing you looking out for her.
