Great ideas, sloppy execution. Geddoe's storyline feels like filler and the main conflict between Hugo and Chris is resolved way too easily. Most fun part of the game is honestly just the traditional base building experience with Thomas.

As much as I have a soft spot for this game I have to agree that it is very uneven. Hugo and Chris' story have the highest stakes. Geddoe's is alright and Thomas is mostly filler but still enjoyable. The story comes together well at the end but pacing slogs at times because of the way the storytelling is structured.

Though not terrible content-wise, the way it's structured makes it a slog. Never been a fan of having to go back in time and play through a separate character's storyline in order to move the overall plot forward.

Character wise, I remember liking Chris, being lukewarm on Hugo, and being disappointed with Geddoe. By the time everything wove together, there was no great sense of "Wow! The gang's all here!" but rather a sort of "Okay, good, now I can finish this damn game and start Star Ocean 3."

I wish I had done that. The only reason I stuck with Sui3 as long as I did was because I bought it for $45 used at Gamestop and felt committed because at the time (2004) $45 was a LOT to spend on a used game.

8.5/10. I actually tend to like split parties, though I understand that a lot of people dont. This is one of my favorite games and I replayed it recently. I do think theres more repetition than is ideal so I dock it a bit for that.

Yeah I agree with this.

I think Geddoes personal story is definitely the weakest, but his crew is great so that makes up for it.
