As we work our way through the legendary trios, today we're looking at both gen 2's beasts and gen 5's swords of justice. These are the only legendary trios which keep their four feet firmly on the ground, and there are certain similarities between them. I thought it would be fun to include both trios here, I don't like having polls where only a single generation is featured. Who do you like best? And which animal do you like to think gen 2's beasts are based off of?

Arti and Zap fought each other valiantly all day, with Uno defeating Dos in the end. There was appreciation for the galarian forms, but the top two Kanto birds were far ahead of the rest.

I only like the top 2.

Two exceptional trios, can't imagine not having either one of them. But my heart lies with shiny Aura Sphere Raikou from gen 4.

Cobalion, but I'm pretty lukewarm to them all.

Definitely Suicune, but Raikou is good too.

Bottom row exemplifies my issues with the modern-day Pokemon art style that I see repeated in a lot of other designs. Weird faces, odd limb proportion, overly-smooth bodies. They just look really 'off' in an unappealing way.

But Entei came close due to having an actual movie behind him, (also the best one)

i noticed too that they exemplify the difference in art direction between the early and late series. i'm sure people have mentioned the evolution from "field scientist sketchbook" to "anime" but god just look at the proud just very animal expressions of the first three to the weird very human faces of the latter

Terrakion's face is legitimately uncomfortable to look at. Gives me major uncanny valley vibes. Like Iggy from Jojo Party 4 except not meant to be silly.

I love all the dogs, probably Suicine actually the least of the 3 though but it's easily my favourite trio

really close between Entai/Raikou... I think the movie pushes it

I hate fighting against bulky Suicune. Makes me hate the character.

The beasts were never my fav legendary trio as each one of them has at least one too many things going on in their design for me (mane, faceplate, too many colours etc), but they've grown on me and I like Raikou a lot.
I don't hate the muskedeers, though I don't disagree their faces are strangely humanlike. Cobalion is easily the best of that batch imo, and I'll second the complaint that they look too smooth (though Suicune is smooth too).

I don't see what's so human-like about Terrakion's face. I guess they could've drawn the teeth to show a couple fangs or something.

They are literally themed based on human characters.

The Legendary Beasts are all pretty good, but I like Raikou the most. As for the musketeers, I always liked Cobalion. Virizion is okay. Terrakion not so much.

I never really thought Terrakion's face was weird until it was pointed out to me today.

Cobalion looks cool and regal and I like the blue, so him.
