No details of the twist, just the fact it exists.

id find it annoying, id sit there the whole time trying to figure out the twist, or at least have it constantly at the back of my mind rather than just enjoy the film and get blindsided by the twist when it happens

saying that, a lot of major films seem to have some degree of twist or reveal at the climax nowadays so its almost to be expected

Kind of, I guess. Now you will watching the entire thing trying to figure out what the twist is and where it is gonna happen. Instead of just enjoying the movie and maybe being surprised by the twist.

Nah

Some stories are great b/c of the twist, and people who see trailers or watch/play just the first part and then lose interest b/c they think that's what the entire show/movie/game will be like, might stop and never get to the twist.
I think sometimes mentioning there's a plot twist later on is necessary.

More importantly, it'd be really annoying if I couldn't in an online discussion even so much as mention, "X has an amazing plot twist!" without putting such a vague statement in spoilers b/c someone who hasn't experienced it may see that.

Kind of. But not really. I hear it often. It would probably be better if you dont mention it, though It probably depends on the movie, though

If you're vague enough about it for it to not be a spoiler, then you're being so vague that there isn't much point in saying anything (it basically amounts to "stuff happens in the plot," which is largely meaningless). If you're specific enough for there to actually be a point in saying it, then you start getting into the territory Tutoria described, where they're going to end up waiting specifically for something to happen (even if they don't know what), which is going to annoy some people. That's not necessarily a spoiler per se, but people are going to be bothered by it for a lot of the same reasons that they're bothered by spoilers.

By and large, I'd say that unless you're giving a broad review of the story ("Interesting story, a couple of great twists"), you're probably best off just not saying anything about it.

Yeah; I would. I enjoy a good, unexpected movie twist, and having foreknowledge of it would diminish its impact.

Some things are worth knowing and you cant escape them. You already had the expectation and then it was confirmed. But the experience of seeing it is either enhanced by the foreknowledge or reduced depending on the subject.

Maybe if it was someone close and I knew it would ruin the movie/show for them. Saves them the time of watching it and hating it halfway through.

A twist ending, definitely.

A twist on the initial premise, usually not.

I'd argue that it's always a spoiler, since you're effectively saying "nothing about the story changes from your first impressions" and therefore indirectly telling them the entire plot. That said, having a story with no twists spoiled isn't overly meaningful, and if anything saves people from wasting their time if they don't like how it starts, so I wouldn't expect most people to mind that.

Yeah someone told me there was a twist ending in sixth element. And I guessed it right away. He wouldn't confirm or deny but he let slip "you've seen the movie" when I said nah that's when he dug his heels in and said he wasn't gonna tell me.

What made me feel a little proud though was figuring out the twist in fight club well before the reveal. it was the look of utter confusion on girls face when he told her Tyler wasn't there. At that moment it clicked with me

It depends i guess.

For a lot of people the idea of a twist is so fucking basic it hardly means anything when they say that.

I typically try to be as vague as possible when recommending stuff to people though.
