Some say old games are definitively better while others say they are definitively not.

Most of us recognize that game design is more nuanced and there are pros and cons to games of each gen even if we prefer modern or retro games.

I'm letting my older child play all the newest video games (just got him a PS5 and new Xbox for his birthday), while my younger son isn't allowed to play anything that came out after 1993 (when he's 13 I'm going to let him play games up until the GameCube if I can borrow my brother's old one).

I think this will help them both remain humbled and well rounded, and they'll be able to play off and help each other with life's challenges.

Does your youngest son have a crt? Or did you at least let him know about the proper aspect ratio to set on hd tvs with older systems 4:3?

I am not letting my youngest anywhere near an HD tv until he's old enough to drink

I would let my kid play whatever as long as it was reasonably age appropriate and not riddled with micro transactions.

Id respect them more if they got good at bullet hell games though.
