Twitter was trash before and will continue to be trash (although I'm confident that Musk can find a way to make it worse). It will always be the place where nuance goes to die.

I think he's going to sell some Tesla shares, on which he'll need to pay taxes, and the rest he'll cover with a margin loan secured by other Tesla shares, on which he won't need to pay taxes yet because he hasn't realized income yet.

He doesn't actually have the cash to buy Twitter. He'll borrow the money to pay for it. Loans don't count as income and thus can't be taxed. And that's how billionaires spend all their money without technically ever earning it.

That's not a plan to end world hunger, it's a plan to mitigate it for a single year. Ending world hunger requires more than just handing food out. It requires development of local farms, supply chains maintained by locals, safe guards against wars and or takeover by strongmen. Give a an a fish, he eats for a day, teach a man to fish he eats for a lifetime. This plan is the former, not the latter. It doesn't solve the problem at all.

That suggested plan is a child's idea of solving world hunger. It's not a real solution at all, and it won't have any lasting impact for a mere $6 billion.

Solving hunger would technically require infinity dollars unless you know exactly when humanity will die out.

I guess we're better off doing nothing instead

I agree with this, yeah it's not a plan to "solve world hunger" I'm just showing what the actual references are instead of people just commenting on things without looking them up.

Or instead of just giving away food we could, you know, build farms and teach people to work those lands. We could set up safe distribution networks run by the people who need the food, not a bunch of people with a white savior complex. We could help those people develop emergency protocols to react to the outbreak of war instead of teaching them to wait for a handout.

In many ways just giving people the food is worse than nothing, because it takes away the need to solve the fundament issues at play.

6 billion will definitely have a lasting impact. It will cause a short term population spike that will make hunger even worse in the future

Those all sound like good ideas for tomorrow, but for today a lot of people are starving and kind of need food right away

All of this costs money, though, so it's too bad no one in the world has any to spare

Or, atleast, you talk about the idea while they die off because you refuse to give them any "handouts," so you can feel good about yourself on the internet while talking down to others who are actually concerned about the people starving right now.

I'm not in favor of people just starving, but any plan that puts $0 into long-term solutions isn't solving anything. Again, that "plan" is child-like in its approach to solving world hunger. It doesn't do the job effectively at all, and the real cost of the plan isn't $6 billion it's $6 billion a year.

I doubt it means you can't have an anonymous account. It probably means you can't impersonate others (like Russian troll farms).
