Hit Plat 1 again, back to fun decks. Wonder when the official tournaments will start, they advertised them and the data page in game has a spot for "Tournament wins" and various other tournament stats but there hasn't been a peep about them since release.

Between that and Swordsouls I'm waiting for too many things in this game. Ah well, lots of other things to play I guess.

The good news is that the loaner decks actually looked pretty legit.

The bad news is that they look legit after I dumped a bunch of gems into the framework for a synchro deck, expecting to have another month or so to finish it

first game in a while and i played against some dumb ass Cubic deck that didn't do anything but stall out. ended up being like 30 min until i waited to draw the out

I saw the synchro thing is coming. Like Id have to see. I dont think I have a lot of good synchro strats on me as i am pretty heavy on Link and XYZ. But the loner decks look not terrible.

Also. I just found out (like a week ago) that engage is at 2 and not 1. WTF. It should be at 1.

I also think they should hit the invoked/dogmatica/shadoll engine in some way. In MD it seems way stronger for whatever reason.

A lot of MD's balance problems stem from bo1 with no side deck, while the banlist is an outdated OCG ban list.

I run fucking Domain Monarchs and it's nigh unstoppable when it doesn't brick because of the lack of back row hate going around, because that'd all be in side decks if we were playing bo3. If I go first, set up properly, and you manage to break my board (even without any actual negates on the field at all), it's typically because you're playing an actual going second deck with dedicated board breaking cards. Which, many decks just don't seem to run in favor of increased consistency for actually building their own boards (And I do that too - My deck has zero hand traps, zero Lightning Storm/Raigeki/Duster/Evenly Matched, etc). But then, game 2 rolls around, the opponent puts in some Twin Twisters or even just MST, and suddenly I have trouble Domain on the board and RIP my strategy.

That deck is super streaky in general though. I had a 10 win streak that ended last night in addition to multiple huge win streaks last month, and I've had 10+ loss streaks too

And all of that said, I don't think Invoked Shaddoll (With or without Dogmatika) or Sky Strikers are much of an issue at all <_<

Drytron player goes first, sets up Herald + Beatrice + some link monster I don't recognize on turn 1
Prank Kids player activates Pandemoneium, Drytron chains Herald, Prank Kids chains Droplet. Then it gets fucking nuts.

Drytron chains Gozen match, then chains Beatrice to *that*, then locks himself into Wind element with Gozen Match (Sacrificing his Herald + Beatrice, leaving him with only his link monster), which ultimately lets his Herald negate Pandemonium because it wasn't on the field when Droplet resolved.

This game is too galaxy brain for me wtf

Honestly, impressive play if pandemonium is all they need to lock with gozen match.

I got Plat 1 again using Live Twins. I fought 0 Banquet decks in plat.

the most common deck I faced (from what I remember) was Tri-Zoo. Bird up was actually pretty rare. After that the deck with the second most representation was Sky Strikers then Drytron.

My sample size is smaller, but I haven't seen any bots so far this month either. I did see people saying that they instituted a 100 gem/day cap on post-match rewards, which is a fairly solid anti-bot measure (Remember: The entire purpose of the bots was to farm these to rack up gems), since the likelihood of a human hitting that without some crazy RNG is low (You can get up to 50 per game, but the normal gem drop per game is like 8, and that's assuming you get any at all which seems to be a fair bit worse than 50/50 for me on wins)

So I had this pretty funny game earlier. Where I had Zeus and Lyrilusc Starling on the field both in attack. My opponent (who had less than 5300 LP) brought out Accesscode and went to attack Starling and accidentally killed themselves because they didn't read the effect.

Finally sat down and beat all of the loaner deck duels in solo mode. Most of them in the last few original gates (World Legacy, Digital Bugs, etc) are crazy awful, which I think most of us already know. It wasn't very fun, but it is satisfying to scroll down the list and see the "Complete" on all of them

The last one I did was the World Legacy/Princess Cologne mixture, which I basically just had to repeatedly ff until I got a hand capable of going into Zombiestein early (Whenever I didn't, the AI just turbo'd out Avaramax which that deck can't really answer without Zombiestein), which completely broke the AI and it was an easy win lmao

I'm in a weird spot where I'm tired of the 3 decks I have but I don't want to spend gems because I feel like there has to be a banlist coming up at some point here and don't want to get burned.

On the other hand based on history we aren't getting anything new for awhile. I wish the new cards had a greater meta impact, it's just been so same-y for so long.

I mean, the spectate duel I watched today was Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower FTK, that was pretty exciting

But yes. That goes back to what I said earlier about having basically lost interest in the game beyond finishing the decks I've already started (+Invoked Shaddoll for the inevitable Fusion event, I've decided is what I'm doing there. Yes, it's probably the strongest in the format, but it's been a deck that's somewhat intrigued me for a while. It just couldn't win out over Zombie semi-nostalgia for my second real deck)

If only it hadn't have taken them this long to get a functional official sim up and running.

Still holding onto the minuscule amount of hope of some type of retro format...

I'm reaching the gem cap and thinking about spending a few thousand and just going full on Blackwing for the synchro event, but I'm worried that even the loaner decks are going to blow it out of the water.

Every event so far the early stages I've played against some goofy decks so I'm not that worried about how well the deck would perform right now.

I'm planning on just playing my Mermail deck and just putting in all synchros.

Might actually also use the opportunity to build the Blackwimg core I've been meaning to as well.

Even though my revised Synchron deck is a fair bit stronger than the old one, I'm not sure I have the fortitude to grind out the whole event with it. I might switch back to the Blazar version depending on the level of competition. Sure, the old deck rarely ended on more than two negates, and the new one often ends on four, but it takes way longer to get there and often two is more than enough.

I still don't know which loaner I want to play, but I do know that I don't have the means to put together a synchro-only list that's better than any of them lmao

So this event is just awful, right? It's either Synchro decks that take 15 mins to set up a board, or Skill Drain decks with no extra deck.

I think I actually prefer the latter, because at least then I'm not taking naps in between my turns.

I switched over to a True Draco/Floodgate deck after one game specifically because of that. It's halfassed, but it only took a few minutes to build and I only needed to craft one or two SRs for something functional.

(Also, the Synchro Pack that you get tickets for past 11000 gems is actually just fucking awful it looks like, so as soon as I've cleared gems I'm hard out on this event. I don't care about the title in the slightest, so yeah. Awful event for sure.)

Yup, I did the same thing. I'm getting a lot of auto surrenders, which is great. I can get my gems and get out.

The benefit of being stuck at home with covid is that I could just grind this all day.

I am halfway done with 18 special summons, 31 normal summons, and 32 monsters destroyed.

Looking good to just drop this event like a hot potato by the time I get to the end. Maybe play one or two with a loaner to just poop out a bunch of synchros to cap that for some gems.

The 200 gems for special summoning are not worth my sanity.

I got all the gems for special summoning in 3 duels, but I have 0 monsters destroyed. I'm hoping that later in the event people will just farm that particular mission and maybe normal monster beatdown will do it if I wait until then.

I played against a Zombie World player yesterday, and he let me keep killing his Balerdroch over and over. I think I got 10 in that game alone because he managed to keep me from killing him for a long while even though I was able to keep killing his monsters

It was great.

Had a rare close game against True King, where I was on the play but had a slightly awkward hand that couldn't get a level 2 into my graveyard for Junk Synchron. I ended on Crystal Wing + Baronne + Herald, but couldn't keep my opponent from using their traps on my board, or activating their field spell and then using Monarchs Erupt. With Crystal Wing, Baronne, and Chaos Ruler, I had them outmuscled even with effects negated, but they were going through them with their traps, so it was only temporary. Luckily I drew Harpies Feather Duster while I still had Chaos Ruler out and cleared their board, and finished them off while we both had no other resources.

This event is fucking trash.

Note for the event: If you happen to see an Exodia-looking deck in the Synchro festival, let it play out. There's a deck running around involving the card Dragonoid Generator that's trying to have people farm monster destruction. I got all 50 of mine just now.

13 game win streak through Plat, only to lose the win and in to Plat 1 to a Sky Striker deck that opened the nuts, including an Ash into Feather Duster going second. Brutal.

Always let exodia (looking) decks play out. Either you get to see something cool or it's a free win

Just played against Flower Cardians for the first time, though I had seen them in action before. It's a funny deck. Most people just press the surrender button if they want to lose the game, but Flower Cardians have a 10 minute combo before they're allowed to surrender.

5 games in and i still have not actually synchro summoned

Up to 17k; will probably finish up tomorrow. Hasn't been so bad, but I did like N/R a lot more. This just feels like playing ranked, probably because I'm playing my ranked deck every time.

EDIT: True King and Synchron are the most common decks I've seen by a fair bit, so it's not a super diverse field, either. I'm not thrilled to play against True Kings, but the actual award for least favorite opponent goes to the person who brought no-ED Generaiders. I do believe that is my least favorite archetype I've ever experienced.

I'm only on 5.5k and I dunno if I'll play more event until tomorrow, but I've seen more Resonators than Synchrons, and more Speedroids (And not just the loaner) than both

Had the most anime duel while using my Photon deck:
Opp played PK Rhongo, forced Gossip Shadow to negate a Nibiru, so Rhongo only had 4 materials.
Skip my turn, next turn, he makes Levair, hits me for 5900(Rhongo + boosted Bardiche).

Draw into Galaxy brave, summon Photon Thrasher and Vanisher(Opp uses Maxx C, which I let through-either I OTK or lose, so if didn't matter), get Cyber Dragon Infinity with my Galaxy Soldier in hand, dropping Brave and Nibiru. Fetch Galaxy-Eyes, summon Bujin Ahashima, summon Dragubion, summon Numeron Dragon.

Hits Rhongo with 22k(6 from Infinity, 3 from Levair, 8 from Dragubion, 1 from Numeron, 4 from Rhongo), overkilling by 19k.

Felt like Kite a bit there, lol.

It's very satisfying when you watch your opponent make a foolish misplay that they probably haven't even realized they made.

I activate Junk Converter, discarding Junk Synchron, because I want Converter in graveyard. Opponent Ashes. I should actually just let that resolve, really, because I have Synchro Overtake in hand anyway, but I Called By it. Opponent responds with Maxx C. I Ash it and they surrender to Speeder.

Of course, I should have just let the Ash resolve, but opponent messes up even harder by chaining Maxx C. If they had let Called By resolve first, I could then not Ash myself.

Wow, another absolutely insane game against Megaliths. I failed to kill them on my turn (possibly misplayed, hand was a bit awkward though) through Maxx C, and on their turn they summoned three Phalegs and went on a rampage. I negated one with Hot RDA Abyss and exiled a Bethor with Called By just to weaken them, but they still wiped my board except for a lone Junk Converter and reduced me to around 2K LP.

With me having gone through most of my own resources, I didn't think I had much left. But I draw Ash Blossom, summon it, Synchro Accel Synchron, return Junk Synchron from graveyard, SS Caligo Claw Crow from hand, Synchro Dawn Dragster, Synchro Satellite Warrior, and wipe their board. They were out of Bethors and couldn't stop me, only being able to summon one of the lvl 4s as a blocker, and surrendered on the next turn.

I'm 31/50 special summons, 35.5k/100k damage inflicted, and 42/50 battle destructions with everything else done for the event

I think I'm gonna call it done there. 250 gems not worth imo

Spent a few thousand gems to get back to the cap without having any sitting in the gift box. Not looking to build anything particular, so I did pulls for staples and I now basically have 3 of every main deck staple, minus stuff only in Master Packs, and 1 of almost every extra deck staple, which should make future deckbuilding a little bit easier.

I used my last batch of gems pretty arbitrarily on secret packs I felt like opening. The next time I hit cap I might throw some towards preparing for the Fusion festival. Maybe some pulls on the pack with Fossil Fusion, that seems like it would be fun to play.

I finally made the witchcrafter deck. It's uhh. A work in progress. It's a grass deck with reasoning so there is a ton of variance in it. Like I just netdecked a copy and tossed cards in (to be honest I had no clue what most of the witchcraft cards did before).

One of the hardest parts is that it doesn't run ash or maxx C because of how bad they are with reasoning (and with a 60 card deck). Ironically, despite having 60 cards I still run into wanting to put more stuff in.
