i think so too. it was the 1st silent hill i played tho so im bias. i found silent hill 2 to be very underwhelming afterward. all the enemies in that game were pretty slow so it never made my heart race unlike sh3 and also sh1 (both have dogs and sh3 has those dudes that run fast i forgot name).

Not that unpopular among the fanbase.

It's the scariest for sure and has a whole lot to offer, but I still go with 2 like a basic bitch.

The atmosphere in 3 is more grotesque and creepy in its own right, but I prefer the more desolate and somber tone of 2. The setting of 2 and the characters are much better as well.

The only real plus 3 has over 2 is the survival horror gameplay I guess, but who really cares, that's not what the main draw of a SH game imo. It's not a Resident Evil.

Eh, "dog s***" is quite harsh, but 2 definitely has the better story, most would agree. But 2's gameplay is much worse and offers minimal challenge. Almost every enemy is dealt with the same way (4-5 pistol shots, stomp, rinse and repeat) and the game throws ammo and health at you like it's candy.

3's story definitely isn't bad, the recurring themes of pregnancy, birth and legacy work well. The way they killed Harry off was kind of lame and a slap in the face though. On the other hand, it was quite an effective gut-punch.

Imo, the bosses. The levels, graphics, enemy design, general gameplay, controls, replayability, unlockables, puzzles. Are all for a better experience

You described why it's a better game to play, but 2 is the one that sticks with me outside of just being a fun video game because it's more a piece of art.

Rewatching it as Vinny Vinesauce played it, I really felt for Heather. She went through a lot in that game and felt very relatable in her dialogue and even just checking various stuff around.
2 may have had a neat story, but no one felt...natural. Everyone was either flat or a ridiculous caricature.

3 had better writing imo. Not to say 2 is bad.

If anyone actually went through what Heather was going through they would have been a sniveling cowering mess dealing with the absolute horror around them, much less sassy attitude teen. Her dialogue was not relatable, it was silly that she barely seemed effected by what was happening around her.

The more dream like quality of 2 makes the characters actions seem more reasonable.

Thats my problem with 2 as much as I love it. Like you really have no fucking clue what actually is going on. And every character is so ridiculous.

Her first fight with the Closer had her freak out and panic kill it.
She's freaked out and lashing in many cutscenes, such as when Douglas confronts her after she just got done with the Split Head worm.
She's clearly terrified or freaked in many cutscenes.

Most of her snark is at the two cultists, whom she's rightfully pissed at for dragging her into this and being annoying and vague (aka full of shit) the entire time.
