They aren't just selling any random steam asset flip at walmart. There's like 10,000+ games released a year and how many sell at a legitimate retailer? Maybe 5%? Probably not even that many. It would be a huge amount of legitimacy for "your random point and click adventure". Yes it does not put it on par with mario, but it at least puts it on par with the weakest things being sold there which is a hell of a lot better than not hitting that level.

Watched episode 1 of quit hero and it looks to be average isekai. I think it's honestly a pretty poor opening because it doesn't actually delve into the concept of show, which is rebuilding the demon army. It just shows how the main hero came to apply there and his application. Almost all the stuff covered in this episode could have been told to us later. Whether it's actually worth watching or not will have entirely to do with how they tackle the management aspect and comedy and it's just not present in the first episode. Poor choice IMO.

Unrelated to anime getting a root canal in about 3 hours. Hopefully that goes well. Dental shit is so expensive. I don't understand why dental stuff is separate from the normal medical industry.

Demon lord nobody feels pretty low tier. It's like misfit at demon academy without the over the top nonsense which was the whole point.

Tomodachi game feels edgy and and not very well written but I think I need one more episode to really get a grasp on it. All the characters act very illogically thus far.

Shield hero S2 is same as S1 so far. Seems fine.

I've talked about the manga here before; it's like Liar Game except with more danger (Liar Game banned physical violence and that is decidedly not the case here), and more plot happening between games. Also the characters are more connected so motives and betrayals are much more personal.

Nearly every character is hiding some sort of major secret that has yet to be revealed (which may or may not influence their decisions so they might seem weird), and the main character gets very interesting pretty quickly.

I don't understand why they choose to play in first place. That one guy is like "we are all friends, I've got the money to cover the debt anyway" and I'm thinking cool, they figured out they don't need to play the game because theres literally no reason to risk anything. And then they all immediately agree to play and it's like wtf, you all deserve whats coming to you then. And why would they trust the game or even that anyone had a 20 million yen debt in the first place. That could very easily be a lie and more than debt, the idea that people have this insane compound and are carrying this shit out is way more concerning.

On top of that, I really don't understand any motive for betrayal because as far as they explain, you can't actually come out ahead. All you can do is clear the debt, which is where 4 of the 5 people started from. This logically ensures the only one who even has any motive to betray anyone would be the person with the debt, but they have no reason to doubt friends that chose to take on their debt for no personal gain. Idk, I feel like I'm gonna need some major reveal to end up liking this. A death game lives and dies on it's logical consistency IMO.

Much of that does get answered and can be chalked up to personal motives and secrets. There's a lot going on.

Just watched the episode; it felt unnaturally rushed, which I guess you gotta chalk up to the business/episode count. I guess they've got their season stopping point in mind already, but this show has to be at least two seasons to do it any semblance of justice. (I also recognized Manabu's voice actor as Conan; it would be hard not to after so many years of hearing that voice.)

Today's where the anime season really starts to pick up. I watched Deaimon and Birdie Wing yesterday and Corporate Slave-san and Heroine Tarumono are today.

Just watched that. It was a lot more enjoyable than I expected. After a bunch of weak anime, it's nice to get something that was a pleasant surprise. Nothing super amazing but I had a good time. Arc's attitude about the whole thing is very light hearted and funny. About to go watch ya boy kongming since it's already been a week somehow.

I'm pumped for shield hero s2, hope it's good. Started on my Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki rewatch, so I can watch s2. I sometimes wonder how many isekai would have to come out in a season for me to tire of them.

but then again i REALLY gotta figure out where i stopped in the smartphone LN and pick it back up, i've been putting that off for years now

Honestly I'm feeling a bit of fantasy burn out myself. It's not like super strong, but right now I'm preferring stuff set in modern times. Of course, I'll still take a masterpiece fantasy like mushoku tensei but I guess a lot of the isekai worlds end up feeling really shallow whereas even a poorly written modern story at least has the real world for setting depth.

Speaking of, watched ep 2 of ya boy kongming. Still enjoying it.

I definitely do try to mix it up when watching shows. Too much fantasy in a row is a recipe for burnout, so stuff like Dress Up Darling, is a nice change of pace.

Ended up watching the demon girl next door (season 1) since it has a season 2 airing now and I couldn't recognize the series. I loved this show, it was great, and even very slightly yuri. I think it aired when my illness was at it's worse and I was unable to watch anime. I should go back and check out those seasons to see what else I missed.

I also agree saturday is stacked but not for the shows listed above. We get spyxfamily, and kingdom S4. And shikimori and forehead ninja are a nice bonus but not the main attraction for me. I'm so glad kingdom s4 came so soon. Not sure if kaguya aired yesterday or today but nice that I get that as well.

I watched some Key the Metal Idol on Retro Crush. They actually dubbed the opening and ending themes for the dub; I wasn't expecting them to be this fire.

Watched some stuff. Kingdom S4 off to a fine start. Looking to be a training and politics arc kinda thing.

Shikimori was pretty enjoyable. Will keep watching it. Hoping they don't rely too much on the misfortune gimmick as the show goes on but they've already introduced some solid supporting characters so I think it'll be fine.

SpyxFamily I've been aware of for a few years and heard good things. The first episode honestly exceeded expectations. The brief action scenes were also pretty well done and Anya is adorable.

The season's first week was kinda crap but all the good shows started on week 2 and it's shaping up to be a very good season IMO. I think I've got more than 1 show per day total which is pretty good. Still have a few things to try out still. Also I was just talking about fantasy fatigue and we get a bunch of good shows set in modern times (and kingdom which isn't fantasy).

Unfortunately I've also been very sick the last 2 days. Worried I might have caught something going to the dentist office a few days ago but today seems better than yesterday so hopefully I'm recovering whatever it was.

Finally got a gpu, so now I can ease myself back into playing games on pc. Started with Shadow of Mordor. Still playing Xenoblade in little chunks. Think I'm farther than my old save file was, but with less time. I really am glad I can play it with the Japanese voices this time around.

As for anime, I finished the second part of Realist hero and I've started on Ousama Ranking. Realist hero isn't amazing, but I do like it and would watch more of it. Immensely enjoyed the first ep of Ousama Ranking.

I watched Kono Healer, Mendokusai and found it moderately funny. As someone who doesn't watch series like this it was a decent use of 30 minutes.

Watched kunoichi and it was surprisingly bad. Half the dialogue in the episode was the same like 4 lines about men. I thought the show would be fairly yuri but it's like anti yuri. A yuri situation but the girl only wants to think about boys. All the characters are boring or annoying and the pacing of conversation is just so unbearably slow. Don't think I'll be continuing this one.

Out of Yamamoto's 3 big works (Takagi, Kunoichi, Shogi-senpai) Kunoichi was the one I couldn't really get into and I didn't find the first episode of the anime very interesting either.

I think I'm caught up on everything I'm watching this season now. Kaguya is the same very high quality as last season. Honestly this was one of the funniest episodes yet. The read receipt part was great (hayasaka continuing to be best girl) and the headphone unplugged part was also fantastic.

Trapped in Otome game might end up being my guilty pleasure this season. This show is bad. There was multiple times this episode where I was confused because of awful directing that made it difficult to understand what was going on in what should have been very simple scenes. I almost felt like scenes were missing or something. And yet, I'm still curious to know where it's gonna go. It also airs on a day where I don't have anything else to watch.

Oh wait, I still didn't watch ghost girl so I guess I have one more show.

I've watched 17 episodes of ascendance of bookworm today. I'm not even really sure what I like about it. I wish I could watch this much anime every day but it's already taken quite a toll on me.

Anything with a protagonist that has extremely strong personalities is immediately enthralling to me, and Myne is up there with Emiya Shirou and Maomao (Apothecary Diaries) in how abnormal their fascinations make them. Granted, she's definitely the most well adjusted of the three, but still.

I do think how the author writes young characters (well, specifically Lutz, but later a few other characters) is jarringly unrealistic, but eh.

Overall that shit's so good it got me to start up the light novel, which I need to get back around to....

I broke the weeb's cardinal rule and watched the english dub and I loved it. I felt like I traveled back to the 2000s and was watching the digimon movie. Alternatively Summer Wars had a similar feeling.

I am now caught up on bookworm anime. I still don't know what I really like about it. I don't especially like myne even though she's fine. There aren't really any characters that I love and yet for some reason I'm super invested. I wish there was more but not enough to read the source.

There's like 22 volumes (anime so far has covered up to about volume 5) so there's a ton of material to adapt. Think I read up till around volume 6.

Had a bit of a scare at the dentist today when they used some benzocane to numb my gums. My body did not like that but I managed to make it through. Watched episode 1 of ghost girl from this season and it's bad IMO. The little girl is supposed to be cute but she's just annoying and the anime seems to support the main woman being an overworked corporate slave.

I kind of hate how often I see aspects of japanese society that I hate in anime. Oh well.

Episode 2 of quit hero is what episode 1 should have been. Show is ok. Not great, but watchable. At least so far.

Episode 3 of ya boy kongming was pretty good. I do feel like they might run out of tricks and end up either very repetitive or very contrived after a few more episodes.

Demon girl next door is so weird. It's a slice of life where nothing of consequence happens, but somehow theres actually a lot of plot, personal, and relationship advancement that actually sticks instead of just being reset at the end of each episode. It works so well that I wonder why more slice of life shows don't do this. It keeps things fresh while still being low tension/low stakes.

Watching Asobi Asobase tonight. Can't believe I sat on this for so long.
Every surreal comedy is highly underrated.

I normally wait till all episodes of a series is out before watching, but I wanna give a weekly watch a go.

Been mostly playing Mario. He's a sadistic guy that looks like a kid and fights with seven puppets controlled by strings attatched to his gauntlets, and plotwise he holds a high position in the church as part of the executioner squad that Noel and Ciel are part of. He's probably not a vampire, but he's got something very fucky going on considering he looks 12 but is older than the other executioners. Totally seems evil but he's more pragmatic good. He's the Carl of the game, though his 2 summons are far more expendable (one is like Carl's Nirvana kind of and can be activated from a distance (but not manually placed and micromanaged, because this game is easier than blazblue), the other rushes in from the corner). His Arc Drive summons Noel, with the finishing blow being yeeting her ass at the enemy, which I think makes Mario the best character in the game.

Powered Ciel was in old Melty (not sure if old Tsukihime? maybe like one CG) and is just Ciel's badass mode (she's a weapon of the church with an immortal body due to her soul being connected to Roa- the infinite reincarnator- and this is her using it to the fullest). This form has absolutely massive range and she has like, at least 3 rekkas that cover half the fucking screen but no air game except for delayed meaty wide range hits. No keys, but she does have a vertical beam sort of like Roa's. I've only played her a bit and she is fun, but she's way less autocombo friendly than Mario is (not as bad as Kouma, but definitely 2nd worst autocombo air combo).

Overall both characters are great but they changed something with shielding oki options and people who are better at the game than me are kinda disappointed. And the lobbies are still shit unless its a 2 player lobby. But still, they haven't charged anything for DLC characters so far, which is kinda wild for a current gen fighting game... but then again Omega Rugal came out today in KoF15 so maybe it's a trend? (it's not but i can hope)

I found Ousama Ranking quite enjoyable, except for Ouken. Not sure if there's more or not, probably is, but it stops at a really good point imo, so, not sure if I'd even want more if there is any. Now I've got to search for something new to watch.

There is more source for ousama ranking. I personally found the ending of the anime kinda ruined it for me. Made the whole thing feel pointless.

Watched episode 1 of summer time rendering and I like it a lot. It feels like someone really liked higurashi and wanted to make something kinda similar but different enough to be it's own thing. I LOVE mysteries where you are unsure if there is a supernatural element or just people going a bit crazy from some natural cause. The art is beautiful as well. I feel like I've heard the name of the show before so perhaps it's source is popular. I'm very invested so far. Looks like I've got a 4th show to watch on fridays. The friday+saturday block is stacked as hell for me this season.

Doesn't look like Summertime Renderer is available to me so can't say anything about it right now. Must be in the same bucket that BRS and Komi-san are right now.

I could have sworn I've seen another show where someone is coming back to their childhood island temporarily for some reason but I just can't quite remember enough to figure out what it was. Could have even been a VN instead.

It's a common trope, not a mystery but Barakamon was pretty good. MC gets sent to a remote island to get better at calligraphy.

Fairly certain I haven't seen that. It's really bugging me. I can just almost remember what it was, but I can't. I feel like there was something special about the island like some curse or some dark secret dating back a long time. I'm pretty sure the main character was a guy who grew up on the island but left at some point and had to go back for some reason even though he never wanted to. Pretty sure there was some dialogue asking him about the city and what he was doing. Ugh it's so close and yet I just can't quite remember.

EDIT: It may have been "Island" a relatively crap anime from 2018 based on a VN. Was really hard to figure out because it's name is so generic yet the show so unpopular that other stuff always came up first in search results.

TIL: Aharen from Aharen-san and Hiyori from the Honeyworks anime are both voiced by the same Seiyuu.

Spyxfamily is still great. I am eager to see where it goes now that the main cast is assembled.

Kingdom is also still great. I feel like 2 hours worth of things happened in this episode. The show is the master of time dilation. Sometimes it feels like the whole episode was 3 minutes long and sometimes like an hour. I wonder if xin is even going to be in this arc.

Shikimori was not as good. It already feels kinda one note and the main guy is just pathetic and annoying. Kinda disappointed. Really hoping the author lets off the misfortune angle. In fact, the similar misfortune curse in demon girl next door is probably the worst gag in that show too. It's just a bad gag when it's reoccurring. I need some more substance from this show somewhere. Probably my biggest drop in enjoyment from episode 1 to 2 this season.

I've fallen in love watching Asobi Asobase. Continuing with the manga now. Hoping that it eventually gets a second season of the anime. Probably going to be up there as my 3 favorite currently running manga alongside Watamote and Bokuyaba.

Trapped in an otome game is still trash and I still want to know what happens next. I guess it truly is better to be bad than boring.

Wish there was more to watch on sunday.
