I will always recommend 12 Kingdoms. Especially if you have seen Fushigi Yugi and want to see everything about it torn to pieces.

I was just watching Fushigi Yugi last night on Retro Crush. Haven't watched it before; just happened to catch a few episodes. I loved the jokes at the end of the episodes.

I should check out Supernaturals anime, if I can find it. Never got into lodoss War though, I tried it a few times. There were a couple other semi-dnd styled Anime (talked about one recently on here which I gave a chance....might have started with Z......but never got into them as well.

Even so, it's still my favorite genre, it just has to be done right.

Felt like trash most of the day. Awful headache. Took a nap. Somewhat better.
I keep on getting tilted playing Master Duel. It's become one of those games where I keep on trying different things but the depth / complexity of some of these decks are simply defeating me. The thing is that there is like zero progression system so I don't even know why I'm continuing to play (well I know why I'm playing, there's nothing better to do).
Onto the weekly anime episodes, maybe some atelier tomorrow. Maybe some backlogged Slow Loop. Who knows?

Hololive EN and ID just had their first 3D concert, but you have to buy tickets to see it, and those cost like $100 (for the whole two day event).

I'm already tapped out on frivolous spending this month with RF5 and Ys 9.

I'm really only interested in seeing the EN and ID girls, so I'm very thankful for the guys who uploaded clips of their performances so members of the broke gang can participate.

Wow. The ending to this season of 86 was powerful. I haven't been so happy for a fictional character in a long time. This show is fantastic. In a year without mushoku tensei, I think it would have been my anime of the year. If the show never gets another season, this wouldn't be a bad place to end it, even though theres still clearly much more to go. I feel like the character arcs finished though. You could probably see the whole show as a metaphor for depression, especially with main guy and main girl. The legion just represents that feeling of hopeless desperation, where it feels like nothing matters in the face of the impossibility of the world, but the 2 opposite main characters both come to find reasons to fight on anyway and through it all even comes a real hope for the future after such a long brutal lonely struggle. Honestly beautiful.

I do have the minor concern that with the characters having finished their growth and development, the show could struggle to stay as interesting on as many levels in future seasons, but I have no real reason to doubt the author at this point.

According to Wikipedia that company has been defunct for some time now.

yeah, due to non disclosure agreements employees have not been able to speak openly about it, but especially since late last year when they lost the right to perform business, sol press has been looking more like a rotting corpse left in the sun

their titles have begun being pulled from more and more storefronts; i think it was earlier this month that all their VNs simultaneously disappeared from a bunch of websites

we've known things were going very very wrong for over a year or so now

Man, just finished Ys 9 just in time for Rune Factory 5 tomorrow.

It's weird, the game timer says I played for around 52 hours, but it felt just as long as Ys 8 to me, which I spent around 70 hours the first time.

Overall it was a great game. Enjoyed the world and exploration of 8 more, though the new traversal mechanics make the overall exploration feel more fun in 9, regardless of the relatively smaller map. If the next game manages to include the new mechanics of 9 with the expansive and vibrant world of 8, it'll be one of the best ARPGs that will be made imo.

The story is about the same; while 8 had I feel the bigger stakes (literally world ending disaster by the end), the story in 9 is more well structured, and had the bigger mysteries that want you to keep pushing forward in the story. The characters also are better in 9, with some very interesting twists in their growth and character development.

So yeah, great game. Highly recommended for any jrpg/arpg fan.

My last anime purchase still hasn't arrived a week after it was sent, but is only a two hour walk from here. Fucking useless courier company, why does anyone use them? Never had a single package through them arrive on time, but a week wait for something that was meant to be overnight is just atrocious.

I watched the first 5 or so episodes of Jahy. The premise eventually got boring

I remember checking out that manga for a few chapters, but didn't stick with it. Guessing I have even less reason to check out the anime.

A dozen chapters into Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete now, and yeah, I like this. Nice bit of comedy.

Yeah jahy was a disappointment for me. Think I made it 4 or 5 episodes in. It was talked up a lot alongside nagatoro which I did like quite a lot.

Finally beat elden ring so more anime watching for me and I'll move onto triangle strategy soon.

Wow, the latest episode of dress up darling was quite something. In some ways this feels like an evolution of normal ecchi rom coms. Like, the people actually behave in a way I'd believe a high schooler acts. That shit was funny, horny, and wholesome all at the same time, which I guess sums up the show in general. I'm sad theres only 1 episode left for this season. I hope it gets a season 2 ASAP.

it's absolutely god tier, 10/10 protagonist

Akebi continues to be medicine for the soul and genius prince is still great as well. A lot of shows ending next week. I'll be sad to see em go. I hope next season can match this one.

You are correct. X-Change 1 got one new ending, and I am still digging into the other games. I doubt Sagara Family will get any added content, though I would not mind seeing it.

Leadale finished up. It's last episode was really peaceful. Kinda get the feeling the studio doesn't expect to get a season 2 and wanted a peaceful send off even though clearly theres more the story could do. I feel the show was ok. Never really amazing but always watchable. Probably the weakest show I finished this season but I'd still probably watch a season 2.

Reading Deaimon now, which looks like another seinen that got only partially scanlated (also the anime is starting up in 2 weeks).
Does anyone know how to see what's currently being in certain manga publications? I want to see what seinen are popular right now that I might not know about.

Finished up ranking of kings. Honestly, at the end of it all, bad show, regret watching. The first several episodes are masterful but every bad thing that happens gets undone with zero consequence throughout the entire show and then they just forgive the villain instantly because her past was sad even though she for basically no reason killed the main characters mother.

Wow I have heard so many good takes on that anime from the youtube influencers. It's a good thing that basically none of them are ever right with their reviews of seasonal anime. Sorry you didn't like it.

Honestly I may have been a bit harsh. The show has some legitimately great moments and episodes. It just ends poorly. I was still pretty positive on the show like 3 episodes before the end. Animation is still good (although not like the current season of AoT or demon slayer good), the world still interesting, and the characters still bizarre. Things just work out too cleanly for the setup they went for. It seems I'm not the only one with that opinion looking at MAL forums for it but theres plenty of people not bothered by the ending that still like the show. It's still not half as disappointing as bisco was in it's second half.

Not quite anime but I watched the latest two seasons of rwby. I miss when it had great fight choreography but it's still watchable I guess and 9 seasons in I'm fairly invested.

Anime season's done for me and anime of the season is:
Takagi-San 3
It was obvious to me going into this season that either Akebi or Takagi would win anime of the season for me. Akebi decided to take different route, and didn't get as far into the manga as I wanted it to. Takagi, on the other hand exceeded my expectations and the movie to close out the series will hopefully be fantastic as well.

finished up leadale, was good but why did they completely eject the only real villain from the story yet left him in the OP looking shadowy and evil

there was a scene from the LN around episode 4 or 5 of the anime where he nearly gets Cayna to kill Arbiter by casting berserk on everyone during their duel, and around when the anime ends he leaves a letter saying he's gonna make Cayna his wife or something

Finished the last episode of Dress Up Darling, I liked it. Think I'll go read the manga as well since I already finished Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete.

I really need to look into stuff which is finished to read though, sucks waiting for new chapters.

Finished up both akebi and dress up darling. Both were great although dress up darling was better to me. The final episode of dress up was almost uncharacteristically chill. It just felt like relaxing summer days spent doing nothing too special with friends compared to the normal higher tension activities in the show. I felt that gave this episode a pretty strong effect even though it was practically filler. Akebi went the opposite way and had an emotional performance thing while showing the athletics event and it was nice too. Hope we get more of both shows.

Also watched the latest realist hero and the episode was fine but nothing special. More of the same really which isn't a problem for me.

So the season is half over for me. There's still one more episode of realist hero, genius prince, and attack on titan. Seems unfortunately that AoT last episode won't air until next week due to scheduling issues or something. Plenty I'm excited for next season though. Was gonna try to catch up on love is war for the new season but not really in the mood for it right now. I especially can't wait for kingdom S4. Still can't believe it's here so soon.

I've got like 6 eps of BNHA s5 left and then I can start on shows from the season that's ending. :D

And another show wraps up. Genius prince was quite a pleasant surprise and it stayed pretty good to the end. In this episode, it wasn't really the prince but the other king that was surprisingly smart. I mean, the prince still comes out ahead as always, but it's nice that some people can actually put pressure on him and make their own smart moves. I hope it gets a season 2.

Now just realist hero and AoT remain.

Also slowly watching my way through kaguya season 2. Might try and see if I can find that shin ikkitousen episode that got an advanced screening and thus should have aired by now but isn't up on the sites I use. Still wild to me that show is still going.

I don't mind if someone decides to do so, though I stopped using MAL and switched over to AniList since notes are visible from the anime list. Got a bunch of region locked or incomplete series with notes indicating that, and you won't see them on MAL without clicking the More button on each series to check.

Just read 3 days of happiness off of gigguk's latest video's recommendation. I'm not sure how much I like it. I feel like the ending is a metaphor for suicide to ease the burderns on those around you. That if you love someone, you should give up your life to make them happier. I strongly disagree with that message. And then the positives in the main characters life are either the result of fantasy or extraordinary talent. Becoming an amazing artist over night, being able to carry on like a madman in front of others, inexplicably having a cute girl that also feels so depressed about herself that being shown even minor kindness causes her to fall in love with you. I feel like it paints a far bleaker picture than it really gets credit for. Without all these exceptional things happening, the main guy would have died miserable and alone, just like presumably any depressed readers, but then it practically goes on to say that if you do get lucky and find someone, you should off yourself for their future happiness no matter what they say about just wanting to spend time with you right now..

Woohoo new anime season has officially started with ya boy kongming. The first episode was hilarious to me although it's just setting up the premise really. Zhuge liang of the romance of the 3 kingdoms reincarnates into modern japan (as an adult, so it's more like he aged backwards and time traveled I guess and magically understands and speaks japanese now) and is going to help an amateur singer make it big. I hope the show stays good cause I think it has a moderate chance to drop the ball once the novelty wears off. Production seems competent at least.
