Shield hero this week was a bit of an uptrend for me. The season before now had been bad and disappointing but this episode gives me a bit of hope. Not even really sure what I liked better about this episode. Apparently they made a huge change compared to the manga and LNs and readers of that have no idea how future plot events can possibly work out but from my anime only perspective it was a fun episode.

Jesus christ this is pissing me off. So after bringing it up, I decided to actually watch odd taxi, which was amazing...except the very last scene. They pull some code geass cart scene level of bullshit on me for no reason.

If that was all there was, then damn that sucks but oh well, but it's not, theres a movie that released in japan a month and a half ago that is 90% recap with 5 minutes of new footage that extends the final scene so we get closure but I cannot find out what the fuck happens anywhere on the internet. The movie was only shown in theaters so far so I can't find any video of it, and everyone who watched it (which seem slike fucking nobody) won't spoil it. I went through youtube comments on reviews, the full reddit, anywhere I can on google and nothing. I just want to know what the fuck happens, why did they make it this way, it has really heavily soured what was an amazing experience for no damn reason. Fuck!

EDIT: I couldn't let it go and googled the jp version of the movie name so it'd give me all the japanese results and browsed reviews for like 2 hours. i think I finally know what happened and wtf they could have just put that in the anime. In case anyone else wonders Otogawa has a "luck battle" with watagaki (the killer) and wins. No fuckin clue what a luck battle is but he survives and watagaki is arrested. He then goes on a zoo date with shirakawa.

Cuckoo went and had another long section where main guy was trying to say something but couldn't. Why do writers do this? It makes the character so annoying to watch. Wasn't quite as bad as the first time but still.

Aharen has become better and better IMO. Every character is gimmicky, but they've really managed to land all of em so far. It's not just aharen does something weird, raidou overreacts, raidou realizes the truth with some statement ending in "da ne?". It's also hilarious how the teacher is so enthralled by the "enchantment" of raidou and aharen while completely not reacting to the romantic situations she ends up in with the other female teacher that is always there for her and takes care of her. She could give delusional warrior kanakoe a run for her money with the bloodloss from fantasizing.

Caught up on everything but love is war. I again seem to have saved that for last.

I've been thinking a bit more about summertime render and it's pretty odd. I really expecting the main guy to take a long time before figuring out even half the stuff he has and instead they are pulling new strange directions with the plot. I really can't predict how good it'll end up being and wouldn't be surprised with a train wreck or masterpiece.

Re-upped my Retro Crush, bid farewell to Funimation, and upgraded my Crunchyroll to add offline viewing. Going to put that on my old phone and see how it does. Being able to watch things on the fly without eating up data would be a good upgrade.

New season of Danmachi starts July 22. Supposed to be adapting one of the best story arcs, too.

I assume this is a decent place for gacha, so I'll just happily mention my Fate Grand Order SSR streak continues for another month, got nine spanning January to April, but was starting to think May would be without. Well I just got Summer Musashi (Berserker). So yay.

A lot of the later stuff in Shield Hero makes me not want to follow Shield Hero despite loving the first season.

been reading some Instant Death isekai LNs since they're on catchup this month on jnovel, absolutely one of the better isekai parodies. it's not as slapstick as konosuba, but it's still pretty good comedy where the main character just makes a joke out of all of these other isekai protagonists (like volume 1 has "slave harem guy with exp share and infinite party size" as an antagonist)

Still not watching any anime. On s14 of Supernatural. Glad that I finally finished rewatching what I'd seen before and got to new stuff. Will be glad when the show is over. There's still some fun eps here and there at least.

Bought a bunch of Pokemon anime. Got the original and Orange Island seasons, along with 3 movies.

I was too quick to be having fun. This latest episode was fine at first but then became awful. Really all they did was repeat the part of the first season that was good, just in a new place now, but then they went back to their shitty villains who make elaborate stupid plans all just to see the look of frustration on our main characters face. How incredibly boring and lame.

I'm really not cut out for Persona games, or at least the dating sim aspect. I haven't played P5R in two weeks just because I can't decide whether or not to go out with Becky. I get too attached to the characters and take the decision too seriously.

Eh, I think I'll pass this time. Maybe on another playthrough (if I ever do another one; I still haven't done more than one play of P4).

Anybody who knows anything about the genre knows Plastic Love. Pretty much anything by either Mariya Takeuchi or Tatsuro Yamashita is gold.

Damn, quit hero really popping off. It's too bad theres no way they are gonna kill the main character in episode 10 out of 12 of what presmuably wouldn't even wrap up in 12 episodes. It'd be pretty sick if they did kill him though. Granted the plot is kind of dumb. Leo could probably just make another engine and supposedly his protect humanity issues are tied to the engine so he'd be fine. He could also presumably hold the portal open forever. Despite all that though, the ending to this latest episode was pretty fire.

Watched shin ikkitousen since it finally aired. Not entirely sure what the point of that was. Like, nothing is remotely resolved. It feels like the first 3 eps of a 12 episode series, but it's only 3 eps long. I don't understand why they would do this. The new main character was only in the first episode. The only fights we saw were against illusions and skeletons. I seriously don't understand why a studio would produce this. It's not even bad really, just completely unfinished.

Still trudging away in Xenoblade. Got to chapter 16 and guessing I'm pretty close to the end. Also, on the final season of Supernatural, which is great, since we've hit June and anime will be ending later this month. Seems like there'll be some decent things to watch, so I'm looking forward to it.

...you know, I try to avoid looking at anime figures because it's too fucking tempting. I'd been just looking to grab a PuP DMG, but somehow I'm ordering a PuP Moroha (despite never seeing the IY sequel) and seriously considering a Rui (spider-dude from Demon Slayer -- Banpresto prize figure).

...and I keep going back and forth on whether to get a Banpresto Tatsumaki. While I like the character, the figure has this weird shape for her breasts that accentuates their odd flatness. Not sure why Banpresto handled it like that. Googled some other ones and the FREEing version looks fine (and yeah, much more expensive figure, still no excuse)

Eh, fuck, had forgot I was also looking at the SH Figuarts Frieza. Other than maybe something low-end from 97, I don't own a decent Frieza. Usually the SHF is more of a decision because it's $50 or $60, but $35 isn't terrible... although it's still almost twice as expensive as a Dragon Stars version and the Dragon Stars line is passable. Sure, the Piccolo's wrist broke as soon as I tried to change hands, but the Kid Buu was good enough. Usually the big difference is accessories, although... looking at the two, I guess the DS version doesn't have an ab crunch and that's a useful point of articulation.

But do I really need a Frieza? Meh. I should just stick to the DMG and maybe Moroha.

Then again... idk. Fuck it, I'll get it anyway. It's only $30 after the 15% discount (which apparently only applies to non-sale merch, so I'm not getting the extra discount on the Rui or Moroha although the Moroha is already a lot cheaper than most places)... although there's a chance I probably won't ever take it out of its box. I tend to leave figures with accessories in their box because I misplace the accessories.

i'm legitimately surprised it got officially released in NA at all, the other steam srw games are all region-locked afaik

SEA releases felt like a loophole for them to pay less in licensing fees yet still indirectly sell to the NA market
