Is there any reason not to evolve pokemon right away?

It's best to get their dex entries to level 10 before evolving if it's something super rare like one of the three starters

To access the final Arceus mission, do I need to get all the Pokemon to level 10 in the dex, or just catch them?

I think I've decided the battle system in this game is not good. Damage is so high that any strategy beyond rock-paper-scissors is worthless. It would be even worse in PvP so not including that was definitely the right decision.

To some degree, I wonder if the game expects you to raise effort levels on your party. I don't think doing so fixes the damage issue but I think it makes random one-shots less likely.

that's a pretty neat feature

I have been using grit (they basically start throwing it at you eventually) but I didnt just mean damage against my own team, I meant in both directions.

Man, I made my way through this game way too quickly. Getting everything to level 10 in the dex was pretty easy.

I kinda want to grind for another Cyndaquil and Rowlet in space-time distortions.

My final team was Ursaluna, Magnezone, Machamp, Braviary, Typhlosion, Kleavor, but the first three carried (Mag for t wave catching).

Yeah I used Gengar and Porygon-Z specifically for their status moves. PZ had Twave, Gengar Hypnosis.

Wow, looks like I caught at least one of every base form available in the Mirelands on my initial exploratory sweep, minus Cyndaquil from distortions.

Was also pleased with myself for finding the way to cross the river to the south.

Just successfully farmed an outbreak for a shiny Stantler. Took a while but it worked!

Wouldn't mind a shiny version of each new Hisui mon, but not sure if I have the patience for it

I got two shinies in an hour yesterday (Dusclops and Yanma), my only two so far

I have played every generation of Pokemon and have never once found a shiny. I might be cursed or something

I'm up to 13: Ponyta, Croagunk x2, Happiny, Chansey, Drifloon, Bronzong, Skorupi, Bergmite, Teddiursa, Stantler, Yanma, Parasect

a few of those are just from post-shiny charm flying around

Stumbled across a shiny Geodude just hanging out on its own early on, nothing else yet.

Seems like this game will be decent for shiny hunting.

I just realized I accidentally released my Alpha Shinx while clearing up a bunch of other extra Shinxes. :(

You can find Unowns in the Solaceon Ruins after getting them all

The only shiny I've ever discovered is a Graveler in original Gen 2.

It Selfdestructed on turn one.

My first shiny was a Swablu in Sapphire.

I missed the animation and didn't know what Swablu looked like, so I assumed it was normal and killed it.

I got nicely lucky last night and got a Roselia outbreak. Picked up a lovely little shiny from that

First shiny was a Numel in ORAS. I got a bunch of stuff to maximise the chances of finding one, then did horde encounters until I saw one.

I've only seen a few, like 3 or 4 in all my years. Sw/Sh is the only mainline I haven't played.

I vividly remember my brother's first shiny was just after he got pokeballs in Pokmon Pearl. He asked, why is this starly brown. Then knocked it out before I responded.

I also got a shiny in USUM

I was not sure what I wanted my last Pokemon to be, Larvitar or A-Diglett. They spawned in the same place, so I figured whichever one appeared first would be the one I used

First thing to appear: shiny Larvitar. Perfect

Trying to ride Ursaluna is very annoying when you have to constantly jump off to deal with the Pokemon trying to attack you while you search for the dig spots. They really should've let you throw stuff while riding it.

Omg organizing your pastures is a nightmare. Why is there no automatic sort option?? Why does the search function only highlight the mon instead of just showing a list of what matches? Ugh

That's consistent with the way the PC works in other games (or at least SwSh). It's just more annoying because you're catching more, and no matter what the new Pokemon always start from the beginning instead of whatever last box you were using.

Midway through the Mirelands, I figured the best way to tackle the pastures is to leave the first few empty for new catches to pile up in, and to start organizing my living dex with pasture 4.

I didn't die once until I unlocked Braviary and I've killed myself three times riding it now...

Yeah herein lies the issue though. The mainline games don't encourage you to catch the same ones en mass. You'd think they would have maybe considered that when doing all the changes and QoL stuff they did.

Resting at the camp will cause Pokemon to respawn, IF you caught/knocked out/scared the Pokemon. Otherwise it'll just stay there, but still might change sometimes depending on time of day or weather. I think it's best to choose morning to advance to the next day, but sometimes you need to rest twice because they don't always respawn for whatever reason.

Also from what I understand, going back to Jubilife will reroll all the spawns without having to engage with the Pokemon first (and has the added bonus of potentially triggering a mass outbreak every time you leave the village).

I've been hunting for an Alpha Petilil for so long that I found a shiny one first. @_@

I'm still a bit unclear about Alphas. Are some set in stone while others are random spawns?

It took me too long to figure out you can throw pokemon at those big rocks and break them.

??? Omg I feel dumb now. I thought we were gonna get a ride mon that could break them -_-

For a couple hours I didn't think we could get those rocks all around the area until we got a Pickaxe.

Then when I was trying to battle a pokemon and instead watched it break a nearby rock and items came out and I'm like :x

Not that any of them have been an actual obstacle, I've just gone over them lol
