Just don't have the time to make games challenging really anymore.

With the ginormous backlog I have, work and life getting in the way, the older I get the less time I have to play, it sucks

Would rather just experience the story as quickly as I can and move on to the next game

not generally, but I have in the past for about two games (both turn-based RPGs).

I was fairly new to the genre, so I wasn't sure how to level up my characters, and I kept getting my ass kicked later in the games.

I didn't want to restart or use guides, so I just changed to an easier setting instead.

I went from always choosing the most difficult mode available to always choosing normal mode first.

i'm a normal mode guy. it's typically easy enough.

i did hard mode on KH Remix, and stuck on the Ursula boss fight. so annoying

No way, playing on easy is a waste of time why bother? Would sooner just watch a show if I'm not going to be challenged in any way

It's been the opposite for me. I want to spend more time on what few games I do play.

I think the only time I did that was KH2 years back when it first came out, cause I was afraid Id hate it if I was bad at it or something. Otherwise I dont, I do find enjoyment out of challenges. Ill normally just play Normal though, which I feel like is the intended difficulty, generally.

Shamelessly, I did this for the first half of the Witcher 3. I like the game, but early game when random enemies can chunk your health and gold is at an absolute premium, the fact that your health only replenishes when you rest on easy is a big deal.

It's usually easy, and it's a nice balance for me. Like you I don't have time to play as much anymore, and I still get the satisfactory challenge I want.

I do. I don't have patience for hard games, so I go easy.

I was actually talking about this with my friends the other day. I've been playing all the games I own on easy lately due to time. I don't really get the satisfaction of beating something difficult and its more just annoyance.

I always do. Im trying to have fun playing Resident Evil, not prove that im the best Resident Evil player.

Literally never. Easy is to boring

yeah, ill do a playthrough on easy to experience the story, and if i liked the game enough to play it again i up the difficulty on subsequent playthroughs

Just to clarify, it's not about not being able to handle the challenge, it's simply a time issue

i do. been playing games for decades at this point and don't feel like i have anything to prove to anyone. i just want to enjoy myself.

Nah, I'd rather not play the game if I have to play a less fun version.

Minecraft however I play on hard because ironically, Hard is easier than peaceful and easy.

Neh. Time issue or not, I don't have fun when nothing feels like a challenge. The contrast between enemies being tough in storyline and then being pushovers once you actually have to fight them kills the momentum and mood for me. It just takes all the sting out.

I used to when I was a kid. Now I play at the hardest and just go down if I can't beat it.

Sometimes. It depends on the game. If it's a long game where increasing the difficulty just turns enemies into gigantic damage sponges, then absolutely, I'm turning the difficulty down.

Like the Yakuza games. The higher difficulties aren't hard. It just means everything has absurd health bars, especially the bosses. Like why does this boss need 14 fucking health bars? Hell nah.
