Consider: two more teams each year. We're going to be seeing a lot of non-competitive mid-carders.

Yeah, that last spot can be a crapshoot. We could've had the Chargers and/or Colts in the AFC. If Jameis never gets hurt, we probably get a solid Saints team in the NFC. The Bucs might have been the wild card in that case!

The fact that the Steelers got in over both of those teams despite being clearly inferior to both of them is a testament to how good Tomlin is.

The Steelers just get coaches right.

Opening lines for the three games we know so far are interesting.

Chiefs are 2.5 point favorites against Buffalo, suggesting that Vegas thinks Buffalo is the better team on a neutral field.

Packers are only 4.5 point favorites over the Niners, which means either they think SF is better than their record suggests or they aren't total believers in the Packers.

Titans are 3 point favorites over the Bengals, which is the least surprising line because the Vegas disrespect is completely predictable at this point!

Yeah, the 49ers' casualties are bad for their ability to contain Aaron Rodgers.

I picked the Rams in the previous topic and that's still the case. They're all over the Cards' offense - no surprise to me.

Surprised they have a Cardinals legend (Larry Fitzgerald) as the guest here without an ex-Ram to counterbalance. You could see Fitzgerald's frustrated face when that bomb fizzled out.

Not an inspiring sign that Kyler can't throw an accurate ball so they already resort to a playcall like that in the first quarter.

Im a little surprised commentators are giving lip service to a potential 49ers upset next week and that the number is so low regardless of who they have. Even at full strength I would say home Green Bay is at least 6 point favorites so 4.5 feels like a freebie.

Thats just not a great team imo. Green Bay has some issues, but youd need Cowboys levels of hilarious incompetence for that game to be genuinely competitive.

The Packers have struggled against Shanahan teams for years. Green Bay should be the favorite, but I doubt it's an easy win.

The Niners WOULD be a bad matchup if Bosa and Warner were able to play. The last one was not an easy win, but this one might be a little easier if Santa Clara can't defend against Rodgers, Adams, or Jones.

After seeing the 49ers on the second half against Dallas I would comfortably take Green Bay without looking back.

Were on pace for one good game (and one interesting one) this entire weekend.

I always get so excited for wildcard weekend and it always disappoints. Luckily I feel like next week is always one of the best weekends in sports every year.

That was definitely a "can go either way" sort of catch. Did he have possession long enough to complete a football move? I do not know.

McVay challenging this was bad. It's very hard to reverse a call like this because it will simply be "stands as called" due to a lack of evidence. He won't get a third challenge; he already used one to get the TD, and should have saved this one for something more winnable.

Well see. I hope Im wrong because my agenda is always fun games but I just dont think SF has any sort of offense that is going to be a threat.

The other three games look great. Both AFC games I feel like have a decent (but not necessarily great) chance at an upset (depending on who Tennessee has playing, I guess).

Buffalo beating Kansas City is only an upset by the spread.

Again, it could've gone either way, depending on what was seen in the moment by the line judge and head referee. They don't have slo-mo replays on the field. Yes, I think they got it wrong since he didn't have possession long enough (after seeing it so many times), but they only get one shot.
