Raised in a Jehovah Witnesse household with all my Hispanic family being part of it. But they never forced it on me. We could have "worldly" friends and stuff. They didn't seem to do the cultish parts. So, it was chill. Id just have to go to meetings/church if I stayed at my cousins. I never really ran into someone who forced religion on me. And I don't express extreme views on either side, so most people just let me live.

Idk what type of Christian they are, but they're focused on the doing good works aspects. Not the hateful shit. Nice folks.

I actually know more people that are deep into healing crystals and shit

used to go to some southern baptist church in Okinawa right near the airbase till i was like 19

used to go to church on wednesday and sundays

i dont really think they are bad people at all. i turned athiest around like 14 years old too. only part i dont like is when the pastor says ppl that dont believe in god r going to hell. so incredibly sad

Not even exclusive to religion, but anyone who tries to sell you on something through fear is just a manipulating asshole. As soon as someone tries to fear me into a certain perspective, I cut off any chance of influence they could of had over me. I'm just mentally shut off to them. I'll just act like Im still taking in what they say, so that I don't gotta confront a deadend.

Nah. My mom raised me, and I remember us going to church every sunday... But at some point, we just stopped. I was always a very logical kid and a lot of things about religion just didn't make sense to me. I was glad when we stopped going.

Then some years later, my mom brought me to a gas station down the street. One of the pastors from the church we stopped going to was there and she started pressuring my mom to come back. It was very off-putting. We never ended up going back.

My mom is still religious, but she doesn't bother me about it at all.

At least they make it more hype to compensate lol. Meetings were the most monotone boring shit ever. I don't remember anything from them except sitting in a building while someone gave a ted talk about religion.

yeah i find that extremely off putting as well. some people believe a terrible person who believes in god will get into heaven and a pretty great person who doesn't worship, will not?

Were they really strict about it? I hear other people have experiences with their whole family cutting them off. I have a cousin that came out and my family didn't abandon him. And they didn't abandon me when I wasn't sticking to religion. I wasn't speaking against it either tho. I had no reason to, since no one was treating me like an outsider.

Like 6 or 7, all are pretty far right, gay hating, gun loving bigots. Definitely some of the worst people in my life currently, so many people hide behind religion to "make up for" being shit people. I know better, moral people that are not religious at all.

You could. Anyone who is aggressive about their approach and uses fear drives me away and makes me look for someone else's perspective that doesn't rely on trying to make me emotional, so they can control me easier. But, just like religion, there's people of all kinds speaking about vaccines. It's been 2 years and that's kind of what opened my eyes the most. Was the differences in how people approached the discussion. I went through a few phases myself and how ai discussed it. I was way more emotionally driven and aggressive in the beginning.

I already fear the ocean from experience. That fucker literally tries to drag you in and swallow you. It pulled me forward into a rock and pulled me under. I noped the fuck out and never went back in more than waste deep. I guess Jellyfish could still get me. But, I'm in Michigan 99% the time. Do jellyfish even exist here?

they did not cut me off when i came out cuz i had already quit and kicked out by that point, but they told me they wouldnt come to my wedding lol ok. from a young age you learn men lying with men are a sin, u can inagine how toxic that is. the cutting off does happen regularly , its crazy.

the biggest problem i have based on my experience of this specitic religion, is the mind control. before i cut my blood relatives off, we had conversations about it and they wouldnt admit the manipulation happening

Define extremely religious, because I feel CE would categorise someone like me as extremely religious even though I don't feel I am

I don't personally know more than a handful of people.
