For the past two years the closest i've gotten to being sick is either an upset stomach from some bad food or the vaccine side effects which were over after a day.

This made me realize that it's not really extreme cold(or hot?) weather or walking around in soaked socks while shivering for a few hours after a sudden cloudburst etc. where the most dominating illnesses come from but rather germs from people's every orifice permeating the air and every surface out there.

With the way society used to work that also meant that a cold/beginning flu wasn't "bad enough to stay home from school/work/leisure activity/hanging with friends".
Now as soon as your throat feels kinda scratchy you've been conditioned to head straight for testing while avoiding other people and if it comes back positive you avoid physical anything until your symptoms are gone. This is how it should have been even without covid.

So what's inevitably gonna happen once things turn back to normal and covid gets downgraded to a mild illness like the cold or flu?
People will stop sanitizing, they'll stop washing hands with soap after pissing/wiping their own ass, cover their mouths when coughing, avoid other people when they feel like coming down with something, and worst of all fear that if they stay home they'll face repercussions from school/work etc.

it's almost as if instead of marking our territory in a stream of yellow like dogs, we do it with germs instead as a way of saying "i've been here.

does it suck to have restrictions? yes.
does it beat having a sore throat several times a year with a potential flu to top it all off? fuck no.
would it be ideal if people managed to practice the same type of prevention even after the pandemic and restrictions are gone? hell yes
would that actually happen?

There are some really sheltered people on this site who would secretly love if we stayed like this and mommy and daddy government can just continue to take care of them

Being in the cold absolute does make you more susceptible to illness

Nah. Before Covid, I usually got the cold every winter.

I'll gladly deal with that again if it means events aren't being canceled anymore.

Covid Era is when most of you feel any kind of normalcy. Before Covid, everyone was out enjoying life while you dwell at home. Now mostly everyone is losing their social lives to be home dwellers along with you.

As a kleaner who never stopped working or got hours kut, I loved the OG lockdown. Empty roads. Ghost town. Go to work 3 days a week for like 2 or 3 hours and still paid for 5 7-hour days. No one on the main floors to even klean up after. Fucking beautiful.

Unfortunately, not of the lockdowns that followed were that good, though.

i like how some ITT think i'm treating it as an excuse to be sheltered when in reality we would literally have nothing of this with:
Now as soon as your throat feels kinda scratchy you've been conditioned to head straight for testing while avoiding other people and if it comes back positive you avoid physical anything until your symptoms are gone. This is how it should have been even without covid.

to reiterate:
would it be ideal if people managed to practice the same type of prevention even after the pandemic and restrictions are gone? hell yes
would that actually happen?
